While both the Library of Congress and American Airline logos are iconic, they look fairly outdated and aren't as flexible. Look at the new Library of Congress logo [1], and think if that could've been done with the older one. [1]

In hindsight, it's a shame that Google didn't put more resources into their productivity ecosystem and create a single, tightly-integrated app.

imo, it's better to get a longer post that provides motivation and idea behind the redesign. Slack just told us the reason why they're doing it -- for consistency -- but doesn't explain how they landed at their symbol at all.

As unorthodox as it is, the way I learned Git was through re-implementing it as a project for the data structures course I was taking [1]. This isn't the method I would entirely recommend to most people: instead, like the author, make

There's an irony here since the CEO of Airbnb, Brian Chesky, used to handle all of the customer service for the company [1]. [1] https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/vox/recode-decode/e/5518597...

That seems to be pretty hard. I just finished a long search for an Open Source one-page markdown editor (no split windows for preview and editing): the closest I could find was an editor called MarkText but even that doesn’t have half the f

I would also say that market conditions for lemons also applies to the job application process since quality signaling through a resume is still pretty hard.

You don’t even need an in house ordering machine; everyone has a smart phone so just make a mobile system or website. It’d be easier if there was an aggregator like UberEats but for dine-in.

I would argue that the problem of ‘spam’ has not been solved, since that would mean an agreement on what constitutes spam—that spam has some inherent properties that subjects it to easy classification, and that spam is not evolving. But tha

Are you guys talking about an older iteration of 61A? It doesn’t really make sense to read SICP nowadays if the course is taught in Python.

Two popular note taking apps which do this are Dropbox Paper and Notion.so, but they only support inline math. A niche app that does both is Gitbook but they’re a newer company and I’m not sure about personal plans. Edit: I should add neith

Don’t forget our community colleges, which are perhaps even more impactful. Even an average student can go to school and later transfer to a CSU or a UC. Beyond a standard 4 year degree, they also help with getting younger students ahead an

The economies of scale is what will matter: new transportation technologies may appear in a blink, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be mass-affordable. Personally, I’m fine with any large transit project as long as it goes faster than a car an

Wait, what? Are you confusing ML with AI? The last two courses I took on ML were all theory. For example, when we use linear regression, we make assumptions about the noise — i.i.d. and Gaussian.

Not really: NP-hard problems are a set of a decision problems "does a route shorter than x exist?" while in quantum computing, we know an answer exists but the question is obtaining it. E.g. the factors of a number always exist.

I think in addition to this an aggregator, you also need a website that helps create an RSS feed for each user while simultaneously abstracting that notion away. Thanks for the pointer though :)

Can't you just have a website like Medium that acts as an aggregator (of RSS feeds) instead of a platform? The issue I have to whether stick with RSS feeds, which seem like it's dying, or to use ActivityPub, which doesn't see

So did Yahoo have a bigger impact on the 90s than Google on the modern generation of the internet? It sounds like Yahoo created a lot of the products we use today but Google incrementally improved them.
