I don't think we should just give up to the fact that it's normal to have errors coming from these big Orgs operating at such a sensitive front. Look what some small errors and delays are doing. If an organisation gets too big to

> What WHO does is intergovernmental public health coordination I'm afraid that's a normative and oversimplistic statement. Have you seen, at least, the WHO Twitter/FB feeds? It's acting as a teacher for the global pu

I totally agree that startups aren't the solution to every single problem we have on the planet but I'm not sure you've tackled the original proposition, rather you expressed a general concern/dissatisfaction and that&#x

It's a bit disappointing that all the discussion's momentum/energy here got wasted on the letter of the proposition and not the spirit. Clearly and pragmatically, anyone certified to work directly with patients at a hospital,

I think you already pushed the scenario too far. The best measure to the example you gave is clearly the one we arrived at now. Complete lockdown. Worldwide. There's no discussion about its subjectivity. But the original point/mot

Data/reporting scope could be made anonymous and more local; on a city/town level (e.g. "Dec 22, 2019 | Severe flu case reported in X district of Wuhan (30°34'21.2"N 114°12'30.0"E) - potential for outbreak

I don't see the problem with taking stances. The very act of thinking about such thing is a stance by itself. You can simply take stances that would reduce harm, avoid collapse and (optionally) maximize benefit for everyone. The curren

You simply report/label on a very local level (city/town level) because that's what will really matter for further action. If necessary, report coordinates.

In the broad definition of what makes something "political", that is definitely the case. No disagreement. However, to not drift this discussion into definitions, I'll agree on your definition of "politics", which -

Close coordination with the Chinese government :) No, there would (almost) be no policy. That's the point. It's one planet - one health. Which country it is shouldn't matter much. If a severe case was reported by medical staf

True. How do you think this could be overcome? Crowdfunding? Donations?

Not entirely sure yet. However, that's exactly why verified, anonymous data reporting would be a good starting point. But I assume your concerns are more about [the difficulty of] neutral funding?

I very much agree here. Have recently ran part of the data through some NLP (incl. AWS Comprehend) and nothing signficant came out. Ended up doing simple free-text or keyword search and only landed on one interesting finding so far: https:

Been compiling this list à la patrickcollison.com. The core goal of this is to consolidate good practical and scientific knowledge on the topic in one easy-to-access place/repo, especially that there seems to be a lot of noise currentl
