Regardless of how current your company/product may be, there's a clear reason why you don't see any other companies advertising roles on the front page. These posts should be restricted to the monthly Who's Hiring thread.

I don't think people realise how effective meetups are for hiring. If you sponsor/speak at the right event, it's near impossible not to meet some decent candidates.

There's no question that London is suffering from a funding gap however some of the excerpts seem incredibly difficult to quantify: They are more motivated by building a great product than by changing the world compared to SV entrepreneurs

Prior to accepting the role I'm currently in I had a prerequisite that I get to finish at 4.30PM on the button every day without fear of reprisal as it enables me to spend at least an hour with my son every evening before he goes to sleep.

I've read a ton of blogs and articles on the issue and the one consistent trend I've noticed is that it's a significantly more noticeable problem in the US by comparison to the UK. I'm certainly not denying that sexism doesn't exist in the

A lot of (larger) companies use tools like Resumator which require a pdf/doc CV in order to upload an applicants details. Personally I don't mind referring to linkedin for a candidates background provided they have a github/bitbucket accoun

Unfortunately this tends to be the case more often than not. I don't think it's out of fear of litigation, I think it's simply laziness and pointless HR process.

Well we're UK based and the fear of litigation is certainly a lot smaller. Obviously there is always a concern that a candidate will have a significantly negative reaction to a rejection but I spend a lot of time with all candidates who go

For UK based developers, our site http://www.hackerjobs.co.uk is getting progressively busier and we've recently had the likes of Facebook UK & Skype advertising technical roles.

Your last point is a great litmus test. Startups are stressful and emotional by nature, not to mention the ridiculous time commitment required. Any company that fails to empathise with that is a company worth avoiding.
