See, everything is a toy to a six year old. Everything they see, hear or handle shapes their development in some way. Devices like smartphones and tablets have great unique uses, like people in other comments are saying, so I'm not suggesti

It's not a matter of romantic notions. E-books all look and feel the same, plus they lack texture, smell and make no sound when a page is turned. They're an abstraction of the reading experience. Everything about handling a book stimulates

I agree with Hawking. But we need to understand why space exploration isn't happening and what's being done about it. Space exploration is different from earlier forms of exploration because the technological and financial requirements are

Right now I'm sitting in Portugal, Europe, typing this on a laptop which was designed in America and manufactured in China. And we're not at war with one another at the moment. I believe there may have been a few consequences to exploration

I love web based software because I can access it from any device that has a decent browser. Hotmail was the first such service I used, and when gmail came around I gave it a try and was hooked. Not only did it boast an unheard of 2gb of st

I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets this a lot. There's also a hilarious variation when you google for an error, the first result is a thread on stackoverflow, and it's closed. The only reply being a mod's assertion that the question has

People from outside europe (which I suspect you are) have this annoying tendency to over simplify things. You can't neatly split europe into "new" and "old". Also, check your dates: what you're calling "new europe" actually joined a decade

Thats the whole point, the whole Europe and its citizenry would like to live in Germany That couldn't be further from the truth. One of Europe's fundamental problems, actually, is each country's profound dislike for one another. Imm

That was anecdotal evidence of what I thought was the pretty clear and relevant point that casual gaming, from Bejeweled to Farmville to Angry Birds, is bringing video games to a host of people who previously refused to touch a controller.

My girlfriend is 27. She has never touched a console and doesn't own a personal computer. She absolutely loves Angry Birds and Tiny Wings on the iphone. Whether or not Jobs should take credit for that is irrelevant. What's important is that

Nice joke. But do you really mean to critique the current state of JS library development? Why? Personally, I'm thankful for the bounty of useful libraries out there. Long may jackasses with keyboards [sic] keep shipping *.js.

Looks pretty straightforward. But why use this over, for example, crate? Also, how are you going to make revenue out of it? S3 does cost money. #edit: Almost forgot. Well done on the UI front. Minor gripe: an actual button to select the fil

A tradeoff we've been accepting since the dawn of civilization, in a way. It's a bit like living in a city as opposed to surviving in the wilderness. Yes, there are laws to abide to and limits to what you can do if you live in a city, but o

In my opinion, a phone needs to be extremely portable and easy to use with a single hand. I'm a tall man and the thumbs on my large hands have no trouble reaching anywhere in a 3.5" screen. I'm also rather athletic in build, so a device the

Funny you should mention shame. I used to feel it about my code. Then I realized everyone else's code was probably just as ugly from their own point of view. We coders tend to be perfectionists. Then I met _why. Then I (almost) stopped cari
