The top tech companies (Shopify, Google, Stripe remote) pay very well (managers will be > 200k salary + bonus and equity). Local tech companies pay well (120-160k + equity) relative to other types of jobs but low relative to US and top t

Come to Canada. Specific tech hot spots are Vancouver/Waterloo/Toronto/Montreal. The weather and healthcare are things you need to get used to, but gorgeous environment with friendly, diverse, and well educated population.

In the article the claim is that the environment changes due to the presence of the forest and results in more precipitation. i.e. the presence of precipitation and trees are linked. If you remove one you remove the other, and if you add on

In the video Garry mentioned that Thiel offered him a check for his salary. Not quite no risk, but effectively so. He'd be able to go back to MS after 6 months/1 year no problem and would have only lost out on some vesting. He pro

For people trying to draw false equivalencies between buying Apple stock, buying lottery tickets, etc I think it's useful to look at the difference in circumstances and how _close_ Garry was to joining. If you compare this to Apple sto

This is brilliant. Super easy mental model. Super easy to use (just drag and drop!). No friction. This is going to be big, whether it's you guys (hopefully!) or someone else that steals this idea (boo!) And I wouldn't pay too mu

This is really awesome and even if it doesn't "win" is a glimpse of a future where you can build a full scale tech company and nobody needs to know about things like k8s and "service meshes". This is obviously ver

Maybe you should expand your offering so that I can live guilt free. That's what I really want. To maintain my standard of living without harming the planet.

I'm bias because I prefer YC companies, but I just signed up and started donating to offset me and my family's carbon impact. When I ran through the calculator and saw how much damage we were doing (the "if everyone lived lik

I think they sacrificed some simplicity for flexibility. e.g. having two different APIs (Component one and Hooks one) vs just one. That decision alone will have a very large cost initially and over time in working with the library. I think

Those are both very good libraries and I did a lot of research on them before deciding to write SPHO. I'm planning to write an article on my findings but I can pretty much guarantee you that SPHO will save you many hours over those lib

Gonna write more on this but short answer is that developers time isn't free. If using React SPHO saves literally one hour in all the time you're using it (could be years) vs these other alternatives then you're already ahead

I totally agree with you. This is why I built React SPHO ( https://github.com/ismailman/react-spho ). It handles animating auto, animating elements coming in or going out, etc. All the basic stuff you want to do (and som
