Well, I won't turn this into a thread to fix that problem, but have you tried these packages? http://enterprisesamba.com/ Having said that, switching to OpenBSD is not as simple. It's not just some random web serv

I've toyed with it, not sure if that qualifies as "used". As a DC sysadmin I live off backports and patches (CentOS). 99% of our deployed OSes are all supported a long (to very long) time.

I appreciate the OS, but I wish it had a longer lifetime, as it is I can't really set it up on servers in a serious manner. It might be good on firewalls though where they don't expose a lot of services to the internet.

Cool, but my XBMC as well as SMplayer can automatically serach and download subtitles. This kind of functionality should be built in any player.

Not so sure about this. We still mostly have laptops with shit 1366x768 monitors despite "retina" or at least "full hd" screens being around for quite a while...

Can't recommend Shutter enough; it's great! It can take a website (gnome-web-photo), full screen or only partial shots; can edit them and has a few handy plugins (censor, pixelise, text etc), can upload to all sorts of image hosti

I've used the R-pi and now a Intel NUC with XBMC and for watching streams I could tell that I had major issues with WIFI. Everything is SO much better with a proper network cable.

I doubt mr Obama is at all African, he was born in Honolulu for crying out loud. All this crap with African-American is annoying and needs to stop. You don't call white citizens European-American, do you?

I'm also using SyncThing to sync some web servers, it sort of works well, though I wish it handled conflicts and symlinks better. In my case git hooks would not have worked as each web server generates content that needs to be availabl

The Foundation series is mind blowing. I recommend reading the "Robot" series before it though as they are interlinked, particularly "Robots and Empire"; the whole thing's a joy.

Use a static site with nginx/thttpd/lighttpd, it will fly. Obviously there's a limit with what you can do with those resources.

The Islamic Golden Age is pretty fantastic, not the first time I heard about it and usually a cause of pride among my muslim friends (and for good reason). Too bad we're witnessing the Islamic Dark Ages right now.

The ice bucket challenge - if proven effective - should be reused again for other charities etc. If they're trademarking this for commercial purposes they're wankers.

I think that's actually more optimal. After lunch I'm usually brain dead for around one hour or so and I don't really get much done. I could as well take a nap and then get back to work with renewed energy.

Music to my ears! :-) "System Requirements A cheap Raspberry Pi is powerful enough to match the minimal requirement. 4 CPU Cores and 1GB RAM would be the baseline for teamwork."

This is great. Till now we had GitBucket, GitBlit etc which are really fantastic, but they require a bit of resources. If this can run ok on a modest VM then I think we got a winner!

All crypto software is guilty until proven innocent, but BitLocker is fine, that guy who wrote the blog post is sure about it. Made by Microsoft and closed source, how could I not trust it.

Ksplice is now owned by Oracle, meaning it's dead and buried (unless you give Oracle your moneyz). Look at KPatch (included in RHEL7 as tech preview, will probably mature in subsequent minor version updates): http://rhelblog
