Can't recommend Shutter enough; it's great! It can take a website (gnome-web-photo), full screen or only partial shots; can edit them and has a few handy plugins (censor, pixelise, text etc), can upload to all sorts of image hosting sites including your own FTP and can use the Gnome gvfs, too.
