I have been very cautious on any analysis on LK99 - especially my own. I have mentioned to many people that any potential application of this stuff comes with an 'if it is real'. That IF is doing a lot of heavy lifting and it has

Yep, working on what you love can make you do things way beyond reason. It didn't matter that you are effectively working for half of minimum wage - at least you were doing that thing of passion... until absolute total burn out. That w

OpenSPARC/POWER is the reason why I am not too excited about RiscV. We have had open GPL designs for close to 20 years and they just sort of went nowhere. RiscV seems to be something neat for those that design processors or work with t

The single biggest issue with lab meat is the lack of an immune system. Once we crack that then there is a real chance of this stuff working out. That said until then, I will just avoid all meats. If I have those cravings, the alternatives

Pretty much. While I am but one of 8 billion people, all animal products have been off the table for a long time now. Part adaption to the future, part protection of what we have today, part ethics.

This is a point Daniel Schmachtenberger has argued. We worry about rouge AI's and the paper clip optimizer problem and yet that is essentially the path our current economic system operates on.

You know how a lot of people see those in the past as being ignorant and we wonder how they could not see the silly things they did... the older I get, the more that is how I see nowadays. Folks will look back on us in decades/centurie

It is easy to look rich when you are maximizing the credit cards. It is easy to pull people out of poverty when short term thinking can overshoot beyond long term carrying capacity.

So there is this idea that we can reduce the CO2 in the atmosphere by using iron seeding into the ocean causing a massive amount of phytoplankton production. But would the side effect of this be a drop in ocean oxygen levels?
