I'm reading webnovels, including some incredibly long ones that span thousands of chapters, so it's not just listicles or whatever.

The Babylon Bee is like the Onion and is at least as well known. While I agree that there are people who take ridiculous stuff seriously, they're beyond what a fact checker--or anyone else--can help.

You can still get a lot of conspiracies out of that one, too, especially among those who believe that Mark Felt (AKA Deep Throat)'s pardon was backdated. It's too bad I don't know how much data is still available, but network

How many of those mitigations would've solved the log4j misfeature? It was in Java, there is an access control to turn off JNDI lookups (that was off for some stupid reason), etc.

It's a bit more complicated than it seems to do logging efficiently, though. Higher levels of logging really do slow you down - https://logging.apache.org/log4j/log4j-2.2/performance.html

Sort of, you have to be careful to stick to the originals and not accidentally insert any Disney-derived elements, which just creates a lot of extra risk for those who want to make use of their cultural heritages.

I don't think you can realistically de-escalate a lot of cases. Nobody wants to be arrested and sometimes you do need some way to take them in unwillingly. The real question is how we do that without putting people in mortal danger
