It ended up being $1.8k. Would have been much less if they didn’t call the fire dept (did he call 911?!) over a bike wreck. That’s the part a lot of comments are leaving out. A stretcher trip. Ambulance? Helicopter parenting.

Thanks a lot for this comment. I really appreciate it. That mTLS solution is something that would solve this problem immediately.

Oh man I had a great one last week. We're migrating stuff to a cloud provider, and they wanted to expose an internal only API to the internet so that the things could reach it. I was strongly against that, as it has no security involve

As of now, and 2 hours ago (according to the timestamp on your post) Trump is technically correct. The best kind of correct. He hasn't lost. Votes are still being counted in something like 10 states, as ridiculous as that sounds. Contr

I like the downvotes every now and then. I think people (like maybe you) might enjoy the comfort of knowing there are others out there. How dare I suggest that places like Chicago, Detroit, and Philly are corrupt. HOW DARE YOU!! (put on you

Don't let the employers do that to you. If they try, go elsewhere. I kept my bay area salary while moving to Arkansas.

The target audience for this vehicle isn't Tesla model 3 owners. It's people like me who get ~10.5 mpg in their fully built 6800 lbs Land Cruisers. It's appealing to me.

You can compare a model 3 with a giant SUV, but it's not a good look. The 2.25x difference is in aerodynamics and the weight differences. Can you offroad in a model 3? What lift kit do I need to install to fit 40" tires? What&#x27

No, not really. I’ll put up with draconian and biased moderation to skim curated tech articles in the morning before I start my day. Don’t confuse that with how exist in society.

Free speech cannot be sacrificed. We’ll lose everything.

It's second nature for those of us who have been doing it since the 90s. It's incredible that it's apparently becoming a lost art.

Yeah I guess "sledding" is more accurate than "snowboarding".

I’ve always thought this was confirmed with the video of one snowboarding down a roof. https://youtu.be/1WupH8oyrAo

I don't really use movies, music, or twitch, yet I've been on this site for a long time. Amazon's prime movie/TV content hasn't ever been anything that I've felt the need to click on. I've enjoyed the ship

I use a different laptop for each job that I have. (Only two, don't worry.) I keep a minimum amount of things on my phone so that I can't do "real work" on my mobile device, but I can get alerts and people can reach me t

What? I always wonder where they get this data. I'm a software dev for two companies. I moved 1900 miles this summer. I'm currently outside of city limits using a LTE broadband connection (unlimited phone sim) and things work fine

I guess we will find out, won't we? I will bet you a shiny dollar that suicides and overdoes deaths are higher than covid related deaths. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/micaelaburrow/2020/07/28/r

We’ve had riots, inaction by mayors, and ridiculous decisions by leaders in large metro areas for the past month. Nobody in their right mind is staying in cities, especially after the insane selective application of laws and ordinances the

Reading that again I think our definitions are different. If you can pack for 3 weeks in the mountains in a VW Golf I’m honestly impressed. I have a feeling you rely on stores and dining out. I’m talking about what is now called “off grid c

So what do you use to bring your two softball playing girls to an 11 game weekend tournament? That you’re also coaching. And providing hydration for. And shade. And chairs, food, etc. Plus your wife and your 7 year old son. What do you use

Probably because of all of the talk about how the riots/protests are more important than covid19. Please keep social distancing and sheltering in place, unless you are rioting/protesting. You can't have it both ways.
