That does seem to be the case. The "big" announcement at last year's Blizzcon was a Chinese free to play mobile game with a Diablo skin.

Riding a motorcycle has made me a better driver in general. On a bike my full concentration is on making sure I don't die. Constantly running through scenarios. What do I do if the car in front of me slams on their brakes? What if the

Based on the title I was expecting something akin to winning the lottery. Working 15 hour days for years to build a successful company from the ground up and selling it isn't what I think of when I think "overnight millionaire.&qu

I had one CS professor that was just awful as a teacher. She was, as far as I know, universally disliked by the entire class. We also did end of year teacher evaluations and I'm sure she got eviscerated, and I'm sure it wasn'

A while ago I started getting advertisements for Prime for Students interrupting every checkout. I graduated nearly a decade ago. Though I did recently start grad school and I did in fact sign up for Prime so maybe Amazon knew before I did.

I can only laugh when I think about mining bitcoin when it was ~$15. I could get 0.1 BTC per day out of my GPU. Not much then, but if I had managed to hold it to today that's $1000 per day. I didn't hold it, obviously, but it'

Between the service fragmenting, hostile UX, and price increases I had no issue going back to piracy. I don't have a problem paying for content, but when it's significantly easier and more user friendly to just download what I wan

If you want more of that check out Curb Your Enthusiasm if you haven't already. Most episodes follow a similar formula, several interleaving stories that join up at the end of the episode in some outlandish way, usually at the expense

I really enjoyed Rodney Mullen's autobiography. He talked about how when he was a kid he would get home from school and skateboard for six hours. Every single day. Trying new things, inventing tricks that nobody else could do. And then

In college I worked at the computer support desk for students. Certain models of HP laptops were notorious for the wifi module failing, conveniently just outside of the warranty period. I would never trust HP hardware.

I don't really trust any lock to keep out someone determined. At least a mechanical lock won't send who knows what data for who knows what purpose to the manufacturer.

Dev related questions are one of the few times I still use Google over DDG. Maybe it's because I do a lot of searches for fairly basic concepts when learning something new but a relevant SO result is almost always in the top three.

That would be ideal to me. Devices and services should be very clear on what personal information they are collecting and how it's being shared, and all data collection should be opt out by default.

I have the same issue. My complex installed very bright lights outside my window so I put up blackout curtains. It's great for sleeping but in the morning I have no clue what time of day it is, and I miss that "gentle wakeup"

Very true. As an example, Bioware made a lot of good games 10-20 years ago. I don't know how many of those people still work at Bioware, but I would guess it's not very many.

I strip the DRM from all the books I "buy" from Audible and Amazon. It's an imperfect solution, since I'm still giving them money for DRM encumbered media, but I can live with that.

> It took about 200-300 matches, which became 40-60 active online chats, which became 12-18 in-person dates, to find the woman who became my wife. So about a 6% match to date ratio. Stats like those make me not even want to try. Wow.

They spent too much money and Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean and not enough on "general" voice actors. There are like five people voicing the hundreds of characters in the game.
