I think it's pretty clear that "trending" videos are manipulated. I've seen a video with 10k views and five times more dislikes than likes show up in trending.

I loved the first part of it but there was a time skip in there somewhere and I completely lost interest. I never finished it.

I canceled mine last year sometime, whenever it was they announced the most recent price increase. I thought I would miss it but I haven't really. I don't mind waiting a bit longer for the standard free shipping. In the rare occas

Mark Zuckerberg is appointed by Mark Zuckerberg. He controls a majority of voting rights in the company. If he wanted to he could completely ignore all other shareholders and there isn't a whole lot anyone could do about it.

They're doing this more and more in the Gmail Android app as well. First there were no ads. Then they added ads to the top of the mail list. Now they're interspersing ads between emails. I finally switched to K-9 because of how in

I don't know about Oakland but in Minneapolis the city will pay for damage caused by potholes. They are also very quick to patch roads after the spring thaw, normally within a day or two.

I set up a daily script to download new videos from channels I like using youtube-dl. It works really well, I rarely visit the actual YouTube site anymore.

I think Seveneves could work as a movie, and actually be good. I don't know how they'd handle the story "transition" though.

He's hilarious. I don't know how he puts out such high quality content so often, nearly every weekday. There's always something weird or interesting to talk about, and he does a great job of breaking down the complexities in

I've been using Firefox for ages, probably 2003 or 2004? When Chrome came out I gave it a try and it was neat, but it didn't have several crucial extensions so I stuck with Firefox.

I think part of it is that Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain (well, mostly, some specific story points are still off limits). Anyone can create a Holmes story in any medium and profit from it.

Windows on an SSD is pretty amazing when it comes to boot time. My computer spends more time on the BIOS splash screen than it does booting Windows.

The variance is tricky because of the enormous time range and the huge number of variables. It's also impossible to account for any black swans, positive or negative, that might happen in the next 80 years. We have no idea if some mira

It's kind of a running joke. Any "in-game" footage shown at a conference like E3 is almost guaranteed to be running on a high end modern PC even if the game itself will be released on a five year old console.
