I hate to be a bore, but.. did zoning come into play? I know a place that had to tear theirs down once the city found out.

If hand-written assembly becomes a fashion trend of 2022 (must say I'm tempted) - are there any good targets for optimization in popular free software packages that anybody here can think of? Filters in GIMP, effects in Audacity, etc?

Some of you are clearly going to the wrong parties. “The best parties are a wild mixture of people. Take some actresses, a bearded painter, your visiting friends from Brussels, a politician, a hairdresser, and then toss them all together. I

I miss the sound system. :( I liked club music okay, but had never experienced a proper German 8(12?)x18" thumping club system until CCC. I went back to America and built my own folded horn, 6kW system after that, but it's still n

I found a copy of 'Commodify Your Dissent' by Thomas Frank in a pile of free books when I was 17 and it had a significant and lasting impact on the way I viewed the world.

I've been building from components, but now designing my own circuits. It's easy with chips like the 3340, but still requires calibration. With just basic opamps though, getting v/oct and good tracking is really, really hard

I've been building synths lately and the hardest part is getting them in tune, and to have multi-octave tracking. It's still hard these days, amazing that they were able to get it working without all the tooling and collective kno

I'm in exactly the same boat, and hoping that others follow suit. It feels like "the good old days", but the community is still small and resources are scattered, so sometimes doing simple things mean a bit of trial and error

Absolutely amazing you can look at the state of American politics and think "what we need here is more centrism".

This is a cool hack, but I'm so, so, so sick of the entitled attitude in our community. I see it every single day, somebody finds an obscure bug in some software and there's a whole load of Twitter assholes going "I can'

The point is not to LARP as a 15th century monk, the point is to live a non-commercial life of quiet, focused service.

I am an atheist. I still want to monk. I want to monk in my own way, which would probably be growing vegetables, keeping chickens, and making open source software. I don't see how that's possible given the way society is currently

I think a lot about the right to be a monk. It solves a lot of other human rights issues along the way. Monks create their own food, have a place to live and work, and don't cost a lot of money. Let people monk.

That's what I mean, though. $250 for some styled HTML! I think that's crazy. Compare with Bootstrap, which has basically just as many snippets simply as part of the documentation.

I've been a Bootstrap user for a long time, but I recently made the jump to Tailwind. It's not the revolutionary upgrade I was hoping for, but it's nice evolutionary step in the right direction. It's quite intuitive, but

I looked and couldn't find any. If anybody feels like making a trip to Shenzen, I think there's a huge (well, Framework-big) market for high-quality dumb TVs and other devices.
