I think I still have javascript commandlets to auto-play phases of this game. That brought a whole other level of enjoyment to it.

Broad alerts are really good to have. Narrow metrics are great to have once something goes wrong. When a server does go down, what did CPU, memory, disk IO look like? Did the request count climb quickly before the outage? Having those o

Based on some anecdotal observations, I think 1Password 7 was better than version 8. I don't think missing telemetry is their problem. Lots of UI changes don't sit right with me, but they're only minor annoyances. I respectf

It is pretty easy to determine a link. https://katu.com/news/local/fireworks-blamed-for-six-wildfir... We legally light stuff on fire and launch it in the air, that will absolutely result in additional fires. The

Sounds like a good opportunity for a distinction between banning and opting out, or at a note field where mods can put some text pertaining to the reasoning behind it. I feel like you and the community will be better served with some nuance

It's unclear if he's also recommending to leave echo devices disconnected, or just cycling the auth info. Based on what he's sharing now, there are hints of two issues: 1) authentication information including MFA secrets migh

I'm not sure if there's any reason to think it's anything more exotic than a meteor. Beautiful, for sure, but plenty of totally typical phenomena are beautiful.

This does work. Not quite as nice as Firefox’s multi-account containers because tabs can’t co-mingle in the same window. But totally serviceable. I use a combination of both every day at work. I like chrome for some things too because you

This is huge for malware distributors as well as industries that rely on identifying end-users. For IT support folks it'll be less than ideal.

In some cases refrigerating the ink will make it visible again, but not reliably. Leaving notes in your car can cause then to be erased. So these are a novelty or for casual use. A fantastic use case though is in sewing. Ironing the fabric

I was wrong on the math, but I think b2 is great for online backups. Great to have "just in case" but not necessarily trusted to production just yet. I still have a lot of fondness for the team and products based on their open sou

25 TB is about $130/mo on backblaze b2. (Not $13/mo as I originally posted) Edit: GIGO math error. Their website said $0.005/gb, not $0.0005 as I based my calculation on.

"MenuBar Stats" has a versatile collection of widgets to add to the menu bar. I'd prefer something open source though, if anyone has recommendations, please share. Once you're running a tool like that, it is interesting

An early step in recycling is usually shredding. It's better to remove big things made of known metals first (like copper wires and aluminum cases), but if they keep it all together it can still be processed.

That's pretty hilarious. Until recently I didn't think of the CPU fan as an auditory cue for how hard your system is working. But now I can remember times that excessive fan noise has prompted me to investigate the cause of exce

It is rational to devalue automatic communication. The birthday card you get from your dentist is not valued. That said I have lost touch with a lot of friends I care about. The best friends are those you can pick back up without maintenanc

launchd sounds scary but it is not that hard to get an agent enabled. It's basically a plist file or two in the right place and a command to enable it. You can have launchd call your shell script once per minute. I used this to good

For your third suggestion, I'll take a shot: For animals to lactate, they must become pregnant. Dairy cows are repeatedly impregnated, they give birth, and they are separated from their calves. Female calves become dairy cows themselve

US vegans will not be partaking any time soon. McDonalds still uses beef and milk along with oil for the fries. In other counties I believe McDonalds uses vegetable oil for the fries.
