There's a tonne of speculation about CFR still at this time. Maybe I'm hyperbolic, but there are still ~1,500 serious/critical cases in China which is 1/3rd of all active cases. I have a feeling like the 4% CFR is high h

>You realize most science isn’t double blind, right? That's nice, but most science isn't reproducible at scale. We need to do a drug trial for SARS-CoV-2 because we need to 1)establish efficacy and 2) establish safety for this

The sample has serious flaws and is quite unrepresentative of the population: >We examined a group of 16 healthy young men (age 23.6 ± 2.3 years) with a normal body mass index (22.5 ± 1.1 kg/m2) Size, demographic, gender, a

I got rid of smart speakers a few months ago after being enriched with everyone's perspective on this forum; tech is my hobby, not my career. I have zero regrets. It's a little inconvenient now to not be able to say "play [mu

SARS-CoV-2 has been demonstrated to live on surfaces for multiple days. I don't know if your phone touching the card reader or handling cash is going to change much.

I agree with you that maybe we should wait to see how this plays out before we judge their actions. I've never had a situation yet where waiting for a more lucid picture was a bad move.

This is an interesting paradigm, but I'd assume that anything going against CDC/WHO guidelines will be removed. I had a physics professor in undergrad that still wasn't sold on the entire dark matter/dark energy phenomen

I'm shocked at how this forum has changed its mind on COVID-19 in the past week. This makes me happy that y'all are taking this more seriously.

Bitwarden is one of the best pieces of software I use regularly. Anecdotally, I've had awesome success with it and love the dev behind it.

My attending went on the news to say that flattening the curve is our best bet at the moment. He's also considered to be one of the top physicians in the region. Y'all can sit here in a bubble, but the medical community has no hal

I came here two weeks ago to downvotes and nonmedical people telling me how I was inciting a panic. Welcome to the show, folks. A lot of my colleagues are going to die soon and I'm beyond sad because of it.

This is one of those times where it gets bad so quickly by the time you're starting to respond it's too late.

Flattening the curve is the only scenario a lot of countries can realistically do outside of a Wuhan style quarantine.

I was downvoted here recently for sounding the alarm bells on how bad this is going to be and accused of trying to incite panic. Folks, COVID-19 is something that should be taken seriously. President Obama had great advice: "stay calm

All my medical colleagues kept saying this was bad. In the first cohorts of patients, 10-20% needed ICU level care. I have privy to the latest peer reviewed guidelines for medicine and had a double take when I read the initial complications

Oh so we don't care about anyone over the age of 50 now? Almost no one reading this thread is going to be in the patient populations that are going to die. I'm here to say this is going to kill the people you love, who are elderly

I keep hearing rumblings about test kits not being where they need to be, but nothing in the news. It would be so hard to make a clinical diagnosis of COVID-19 when the chief complaints are "Fever, cough, shortness of breath". Is
