I suppose I assumed you were objecting to the article saying that PCs were not designed to run games. No one is disputing that games did run on PCs, but PCs did not have the kind of hardware nor the kind of architecture that computers at th

Absolutely if you bought a PC in 1993 it would have been suitable for gaming, but that was not the claim I replied to which claimed that PCs had always been suitable for gaming and that games were always a significant part of the PC market.

I think you're now shifting from your original claim that games were always a part of PC sales, which I disagree with, and a cursory review of market share supports my stance, to now focusing on 1993 and beyond. To that end I think the

I think people have a huge misunderstanding about what a wrongful termination is. Unless you're part of a union or work in the state of Montana, which most software developers do not, then you can be fired for any reason or no reason a

Can't say I agree. I also remember the late 80s and early 90s and PCs were simply not well equipped to run video games. Home computers that did run video games had special hardware dedicated for it, like the Commodore 64, the MSX, and

It's often far cheaper to fire someone immediately and pay out full benefits than it is to keep someone on payroll on a PIP. The cost of keeping someone on PIP isn't just salary, it's also the management and maintenance assoc

I don't know of any government department in Canada, Mexico, the UK, France, Germany, Australia that target U.S. law makers with fake social media accounts. Do you know of any? Can you cite them?

It's a weak form of the Goldbach conjecture not the actual Goldbach conjecture itself. The weak form also has a proof that does not depend on the Riemann hypothesis.

Right, but one can imagine a popular film about AI casting a voice actor not because the voice actor has an appealing or soothing voice, but because the actor is themselves very popular and will draw a large audience. Perhaps say Arnold Sch

Because it's not obvious and just using that word over and over again doesn't make it true. Did OpenAI want to use a similar voice to Scarlett Johansson's specifically because it's her, and they want to capitalize off of

I don't want to give to much credibility to the benchmark OP posted because it is quite flawed, but MSVC performs absolutely terribly on that benchmark, far worse than GCC or clang with a 58x slowdown when compiled in 64-bit mode. I ca

Your benchmark supports the position that exceptions should be used instead of return codes for better average case performance, at least for GCC. If your function throws an exception 9% of the time, then it outperforms error codes. That&#x

Barriers can induce blocking behavior though. A store barrier followed by a store operation can result in a blocking operation until the store buffer is flushed, and similarly for a load barrier.
