Numbers of registrations is a vanity metric. How many used the core product? How many retained? How many converted to paying? How many told their friends?

What you say sounds cool. I wrote a bunch of Paxos implementations for distributed databases in C++: https://github.com/scalien/scaliendb/tree/master/src/Framewo... Can you share your Go code?

I hypothesize these types of arguments would fail if you quantified them, ie. compared the actual amount spent investing (VC money, people, manhours) in (1) Angry Birds type startups versus (2) training medical researchers, medical research

I downvoted you because your comment doesn't add to the discussion. Maybe if you explained your position wrt. to the parent in greater detail.

It'd be nice if the landing page explained how you're different from all the other options!

But Instagram didn't make money as a company for itself, Instagram itself was sold and made money for the founders/investors. The two are not the same.

For a company that is doing HR/office/mood stuff very well, like the company I work for (Prezi), these activities could not be outsourced because they are part of delivering the core values and feeling of the company and are instr

I scanned it and I think it's awesome. I'll go back to it later probably. Having said that I wouldn't recommend anyone to read this. Instead, there's this awesome gem, which I have read multiple times. Don't believe

Personal qualities matter a lot more than what you say here, so I can't tell. IF you'd be hired, it'd be a junior position.

It doesn't necessarily. It's simple to think up of economic models where, just because some people are willing to pay for something, doesn't mean it makes sense for someone to sell it. In this case, it clearly does not. This type of (comple

I was at their meetup yesterday. What you're implying is definitely _not_ the vibe. I thought Netflix OSS is great. They're opensourcing something like 30 projects, putting on super well organized meetups with expo like rooms where you can

Writing a distributed database is pretty challenging. That's part of the reason I started a NoSQL company some time ago. Unfortunately it failed due to lack of funding, but if you're interested, here's a technical write-up: http://arxiv.or

Thanks, this looks interesting. Actually I'm developing/maintaining something like this at my job, as part of the Data Services team. Similar to this, it uses Google Charts and is a node.js app. It will be open-sources in a couple of months
