All analysis takes on a 'personal tinge' - what we want to be true we judge to be true. Perhaps I'm making that mistake, but let me explain my view regarding China: 1. China's economy is headed for a slump - either a se

Your link about Cambodian genocide denial seems to be much more critical of Chomsky than the New York Times. Chomsky's position was basically that we must discount reports of genocide because they are coming from a biased western media

The clicking sound on button presses has been fixed in the latest build, and the Flutter team is working on accessibility. But I agree that a Flutter app will always have some deficiencies compared to a native app. However, the question is

If you have an Android phone, a good demonstration of flutter is the gallery app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.flutter.gal... There doesn't seem to be an equivalent iOS app, which is kind

I'm not sure 100% fidelity to native look and feel is so important to users, as long as the UI is fast, responsive and looks good. Spotify doesn't seem to have a problem with users despite its garish black and green appearance.

Don't know about Adobe Air, but Java Web Start was bloated, slow, ugly, with a complicated API and poor security. Perhaps this new attempt would simply have a better implementation. Currently the most common development approach is to

I admit I don't have much experience with web or mobile apps, but I thought that some UI elements like 'pull down to refresh' or 'bottom navigation' [0] are harder to get 100% right in a web app. Am I wrong? [0] ht

Sure, that is an advantage but I wouldn't say it is a strong advantage. With app stores I can view screenshots and videos before installing the software. The app runs in a sandbox and I can uninstall it very easily.

What if Facebook provided a way for React Native apps to be compiled to Windows and Mac desktop applications? If such apps were lightweight and could be automatically updated, would React Native development be a serious alternative to web a

There is a bigger issue here: Why wasn't such an analysis done 50 years ago? Where is the incentive for people to uncover fraud? All governments should have a rule that says: if you uncover fraud or waste in a government department yo

I agree you need massive amounts of training data. But the marginal value of that data diminishes rapidly after a certain point. Let's say Waymo spends $2 billion to get the training data necessary to produce a fully automated car. A f
