… call me one of “today’s lucky 10,000,” but this is the first I’ve heard of the spacebar to get trackpad thing on iOS, and I’ve been using iPads (and later iPhones) since 2011 or so. I’ve ranted here plenty of times about my late-80s aunt

At least in Nürnberg and surrounds, vaping has taken over for people under 40. I’ve had colleagues vape on camera during informal meetings. The vapers I know (adults past college age) were all tobacco smokers before, so this is (hopefully)

I’m sorry that you and your family had to experience the loss of your cockatiel that way, and wish the vet had told you to take your little friend home instead. Regular vets who aren’t avian specialists really can’t do much for pet birds as

The only people more attracted to disposable vapes than teenagers are preschoolers. My husband and I have confiscated at least three so far that the kid has managed to find while we’re out walking or the worst, one on a playground. I guess

I continue to be amazed at how much abuse my fellow Americans take from their telcos. I pay 13 EUR/4 wks (yes, German mobile operators are a bit slippery, too) for 3 GB + unlimited domestic talk and text. If I wanted to waste more time

My little parrot died in my hands, and while it was sad, I was (and still am) glad that she didn’t die alone. She’d been ill, and I was about to take her back to the vet to have that final shot, so it was not shocking. Be there for your fri

My kid is three, and I'm debating whether I should teach him how to ski or not; most of the northern/eastern Bavaria ski areas didn't open at all last winter, and the big one (Arber) barely did. Cross country was a write-off

Where in Europe (approximately)? Life in rural Bavaria 30km outside of Nürnberg without a car is far more difficult than without one in Nürnberg, within 500m of an U-Bahn station, and Nürnberg isn't that dense. Non-ownership of a car i

First of all, get your entry-level license. If you're in the US (or have someone who can receive mail for you), this is relatively easy and inexpensive, and can be done completely online. Avoid sinking a lot of money into a transceiver
