I don't know, I appreciate his convictions and what he does, but I don't believe software in general would be where it is today if it weren't for commercial and closed source software. Google and Apple have done a lot to shap

Great article, lots of resources in there for someone getting started and your writing style is great too. Please do a follow up if you figure out the production part :)

I have to agree, the page didn't make my CPU suffer here but that was unnecesarily distracting.

In fact if I recall correctly Google also experimented a couple years ago with a "email signup" field in search ads, but that doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. Not that it is surprising because if you are searching for some

That sounds nice, but you need to make a stronger case about it in the site if you want to get people interested. Think of what features would make people excited about your platform and talk about those, don't just say "My platfo

So it's not so much that they intended to have a "first click free" policy in the first place but that they are forced to do an exception in order to remain in Google's index. That's interesting, I always wondered

Perhaps I'm too cynical, but if I had to guess I'd say cryonics companies don't give a damn about future ethical and/or legal implications as long as it's a profitable business as it stands today. I very much doubt

I can relate to this. I transfer my files via SSH/SFTP when I have to because MTP is just completely unreliable, sometimes it works but most of the time it's just unpredictable.

Windows as a brand is still way too big, and unlike IE its reputation is okay and its market share huge, Microsoft has more to lose than to win rebranding Windows. I don't see it happening, but IMO there's no reason why Windows ca

Well but if you op-out you op-out of everything, including security updates. There's no "I want security updates but no random feature/interface changes" button.

If you are just starting with redis, beware that the entire dataset is held in memory, and memory is much more precious than disk. Don't just throw everything you can at it just because it's fast.
