Ah yes! I had to repair a broken tooth when I was in the US, which was covered by our insurance. The dentist took 19(!) x-ray plates of my teeth, which she then charged the insurance company for.

My dentist is very busy. That often means that I have to wait a couple of months before I can get an appointment, if I'm not in active pain. That is of course sometimes annoying. The flip side of that is I'm quite confident that s

No. Simply put, the laws of physics will be described by different equations in a rotating frame of reference than in one that doesn’t rotate, while it is impossible to distinguish two frames of reference that is just moving relatively to e

The biggest downside right now is that it is to slow and to expensive to build new plants to make any meaningful impact in either gas deliveries from Russia or climate disaster.

Why do you think so? To me the argument sounds like: > no one died of radiation, since they were evacuated. The people who did die, because of the evacuation, shouldn’t count because they didn’t die from the radiation. The evacuation was

Lenses aren’t that expensive, especially not prime lenses. You get a very decent Canon brand 50mm f/1.8 for $125 new. So you could easily get each of these lenses in the lower hundreds. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c&

What overhead? Do you really think it makes any significant difference versus recalculating the taxes?

The argument that lower taxes isn't a subsidy is just stupid. It makes absolutely no meaningful difference if someone pays the same taxes as everyone else but then the government pay them some money, or if someone pays correspondingly

In 1985 you could say “homosexuality is a disease and all gay should be locked up” and you wouldn’t have to be too worried about your employment. Today you can say “I’m gay” and don’t have to worry about being fired for it. I like today’s f

And in a car centric society, even a supermarket becomes noisy and polluting since all their customers use heavy machinery (cars) just to get there. I certainly don’t want to live next to a large parking lot.

Because even in city centres where most people walk, there’s a perception among business owners that they would lose a big part of their customers if parking were replaced with for example bicycle lanes, while the truth is the opposite.

Refuting the RR paper was an exception, because it was such a high profile paper used by many policy makers in a critical economic situation. I’ve seen colleagues waste weeks to get any kind of attention to clear, and when pointed out, quit
