If I were to venture a guess, I'd say that the constant fanboy angle on practically all Apple stories a) gets tiresome and b) takes away from the discussion of the article at hand.

"Swedish bureaucracies inspire trust"? Really? Maybe from the outside. Living here, my personal experience is quite the opposite, swedish people don't hold their government agencies in particularly high regard. This feels more like romantic

I seem to remember having user experiences where the first couple of times I did something wrong, I got a short warning sound or flashing menu bar, and after a couple of more of them, a dialog box popped up with a more elaborate description

At least some of the problem is that at least here, cost is prohibitive. It's ridiculously expensive per minute compared to normal calls. I don't know if FaceTime is going to be a hit or not, but I definitely see myself using it more often

Isn't it cool that you won't have to anymore, though? The Objective-C requirement for native apps might still be a problem in a lot of places, but other than that, I can see the iPad being a relatively cheap platform that could work well fo

Zotero seem to have the right idea, the behavior should be in the browser. Although they seem to want to do a lot more than that, an additional simple "Copy with annotation"-command in my Safari would be useful. Preferably with formatting s

First, I dispute saying that just because it's touch based, the iPad doesn't have a Graphical User Interface. Second, another kind of device which got a no-holds-barred canvas to create beautiful and stylized interaction-based content was t

It's the normal difference between quantitative and qualitative research. This kind of study is of the exploratory kind, capturing what's going on while the users interact with in this case the iPad for a while. This study is very useful to

Isn't this a bit of a complacency issue? To compete with the web, you're going to have to create an experience that's significantly better than the web. I get the feeling most content providers want to rehash the same thing in a different w

I believe they suggest you write custom logic as a template tag, rather than in the view. However, I do agree that the naming conventions are unfortunate, to say the least. In my experience not doing this separation encourages people solvin

Wasn't this sort of thing discussed back in the heyday of Palm, when their devices started to get some wireless connectivity? I seem to remember thinking about the potential of just such a system back then, even though I never did anything

That they are used by Google makes them somewhat special, in that one would assume they have put some thought and experimentation into choosing them. Also, that would make for pretty good field-testing of them.

Well, not necessarily. You could argue that the ebook is searchable, for instance, which the paper book is not. So I would say that the paper book and the ebook each have a few unique merits that might or might not be worth paying extra for

When it comes to authentication, wouldn't it be rather easy to subclass the ModelBackend class to simply use email instead of username if that's what you want? And if you want to extend user.Auth with more user data, they have a way of doin

Isn't it nice when you not only understand what an article is about from the headline, but also get all the necessary information from it alone? Short and to the point.

That's quite some benefit you've got there. The letter doesn't seem to be more proof than Steve calling and asking for his stuff back whilst gritting his teeth. It could be fake Steve calling, but having it sent to Apple, c/o Steve Jobs, 1

Many websites out there would benefit from following these tips. Unfortunately, layout seems an underappreciated art on the web -- or maybe it's the variable widths that just makes it too hard?
