I’ve been following kernel development for something like three years using LWN and other sources. I can’t remember anyone earning the level of hostile treatment he did and getting kicked out. I don’t see how it would ever happen.

IDK. We’d already had plenty of spying by companies, the government, police abuse, etc. It was all quite plain then. And the very heavy rhetoric made it very obvious which direction things would go.

It’s not like this stuff wasn’t known to be a problem 10 years ago. We were already in Trump’s first term, it’s not like it was part of the early post 9/11 “secure everything” push. It was WAY after that. 10 years ago is no excuse.

It’s taint. Anyone who looks at it can’t work on a real open source driver because they will have had access to information they’re not supposed to. It won’t be clean room like the stuff Alyssa did.

SwiftUI is Apple secret sauce. That’s never going to be released. All the compiler features are there. Others can make similar libraries or other new libraries. But I don’t see why Apple would ever release that outside Apple land. Swift can
