It always seemed a bit easy to me without running through probabilities due to the fact that the game show host was forced to choose goat (which is different depending on where the car is). The idea of a forced non-random choice is more cle

I did by buying EXAS when the new CEO came in at about $2. The previous management didn't have what it took to get it off the ground. The availability to buy the test came out this quarter so sales numbers are not in yet (but it is ful

Good news on the colon cancer, though. Exact Sciences released an effective screen for it recently, catching pre-cancer as well. It is a slow growth cancer that can be treated very well at early stages. My guess is that they will drop colon

The only thing I can think of is on subsidized flights to places like las vegas. If your destination isn't actually vegas but the supposed end point is, I can see it possibly getting hairy. A bit of a stretch though.

This was my experience as well. I left the industry when I started seeing requirements like 5+ years experience in windows 2000 when it was 2001.

This is how I trade currencies, usually a Yen pair on a 30min timeframe. It does work and money can be made, but it is a lot less profitable then they claim (on the Yen pairs I trade). Generally, a very outsized event can erase quite a lot

LastPass was considered secure on HN in the past, has this changed? Or is there a reason you don't like it? Not attacking, just curious about my own security.

Depends on the size of the company, IME. Small to mid-caps can be very transparent. To add extra protection, buy at the lower end of the market cycle or when the sector of the stock is out of favor.

Right, but the evidence is affected by both past evidence and preconceived notions. Because of this, and outliers, it takes time.

Yes and no, IMO. For the layman, yes, it seems like a mish-mash of failed conclusions. But, I think there is a solid direction that can be found with some knowledge. We punish those who push the boundaries too quickly. This bias really need

It takes a while to change conclusions. The important thing is that they do change in the face of evidence. Personally, I do take some risks by changing early with what I consider sufficient evidence. Like Feynman said about the viscosity i

Likely. You have to be able to see the trade offs and cascading effects. It is similar to the ethical question where if you reroute the train track it kills someone and if you don't it kills two. Of course, it is more hairy than that.

Comparables are good, but you may also want to check out Aswath Damodaran's work. The simplistic version is to do a discounted cash flow analysis and use comparables to get an idea on the discount and other variables.

It could be as simple as a mouse being able to discriminate white from black or low tones from high tones. Sometimes I think the culture in some areas of science has become twisted. It really has to be experienced to be believed.
