I vaguely remember programming small to large PHP sites with just sublime text... never again. My impulsive purchase on the 21st December 2012 was the best thing I did that year.

I bought PhpStorm, RubyMine, and Appcode in the Dec 21 sale of 2012, all 3 of them have been upgraded to the latest versions (just updated RubyMine today)

What about iOS where you definitely need OSX? Xamarin has some integration with VS (I've never used it myself), but it still needs a mac with OSX installed to work (even if it's just a macmini somewhere. If Microsoft does buy Xama

Interesting, but I didn't care much for the visualizations shown - they took up way too much space on the page for the bigger companies.

I had the exact same feeling - I was unsure of whether I should be seeing a "save" button or not - and I didn't know whether the site had saved my response automatically. It's a very subtle approach, but it's a litt

I was an avid Linux Format reader for some time and had a print subscription for a heady couple of years. However, the content seemed to have dumbed down recently, and the ratio of advertising to content seems to have grown. Also, I'd

What about the surely obvious privacy implications? A lot of people on HN are barely trusting Google with their mail, or even their searches - would you trust them with seeing everything on your screen?

I hope it's not indicative of a trend among laptop manufacturers. Apple removed Ethernet ports from their MacBook Pro Retina, ostensibly to reduce form factor, but also rendering it useless if you're in a place without good wifi,a

I don't see anything wrong with asking Microsoft to contribute. At this stage in Windows Phone's lifetime, it's probably a win-win situation. Developer covers some or all the development costs (to minimize the risk of porting

Meanwhile, $20 a month at digitalocean gets you 2G of RAM and 40 Gb of ssd. Not to diss Linode, I use them myself, but they're not the cheapest. It's quite evident to me that these free upgrades are a defensive tactic. How much me
