Aye, if I wanted to publish my pdfs, Dropbox would be a bad choice. Sharing to a select group of people (e.g. a link in a mailing list, or on a small online community - it's perfectly valid in my opinion.

Again, this is why I love Dropbox - I don't even need to upload, just rightlick and get a link. As mentioned, it's not suitable for large audiences - but it's perfect for other stuff.

I'd be interested in reading more about this - I'd love to show it to some designers I work with. At the moment, I'm struggling to get the designers to acknowledge that Android and iOS need to be designed seperately. iOS desi

Never used sqlite for websites, but wouldn't this problem be better handled by caching? I.e. completely bypass the database, especially for users who will never log in. E.g. Varnish.

I'm guessing it's something like Xamarin: https://store.xamarin.com/ (Albeit way cheaper)

I find the simulator a bit deceptively fast, compared to a low spec iPhone (e.g. iPhone 4). Also, there's the case sensitivity - iPhone Simulator is not case sensitive (maybe depends on your filesystem settings), while the device is ca

Personally, I find Xamarin Studio to be quite buggy, often needing several quit+restart a day (I do iPhone apps), a colleague also does Android apps with Xamarin (on Windows) and experiences similar problems.

Agreed - a simple "Do you mind if I write this down? This way I won't need to bother you again next time!" wouldn't have done any harm..

Ive built about 4 apps in Xamarin now - nothing major though. I love the ability to write apps in C#. The language is amazing. However, it can be exceedingly difficult to use 3rd party libraries in your application. It is possible - you can
