Mr Benedim was clearly a religious man it appears that his generosity of spirit was thoughtful and profound. Some of my wife’s extended family are quite wealthy (her branch of the family missed the boat) and while expressing great religiosi

I think you’re correct. It still hits me wrong. Work is life for only specific subgroup of workers including upper management. The tone of the entire essay is ripe for parody.

This essay really hits me wrong. Perhaps its because I am a human and not simply a "unit of production". Also the "personal playing to win strategy" immediately reminds me of the parody program "refuse to lose"

Sometime around 2002 I chartered a small plane to photograph the landscapes around the bunch grass prairies in NE Oregon. These are one of the last remaining ecological intact bunchgrass prairies in North America. One of the features I caug

I'm a working pro photographer with over 30 years of experience. I frequently buy older camera tech for hazardous duty. The optics and sensors are quite good and the current software can upres and denoise the images without looking wei

Weird to see this here. However, I happen to be a minidisc user/collector and really enjoy the format. I make a mix tape nearly every week. I know how archaic this is, but I find the process and the results to be very gratifying.

I just watched this a few weeks ago. It is fantastic. Belafonte was a producer as well as the star. He’s playing a man trying balance being a father and musician with a giant gambling problem. His character is only good at being a musician

This is fundamentally incorrect. I'd also wager that more than 50% of the commenters on here benefit from robust IP protection.

On my “following” tab (on the phone app) , I’m still getting recommendations for bomb throwers I don’t follow. Am I weird? It’s like an unhinged relative. Not pleasant. Edit: I reversed “for you” and “following” in my original reply.

I was lured into trying the Amazon Music app for its podcasts. It is just awful. Apple Podcasts is less awful but not great. Overcast is so easy to use, so quick to navigate, with so many custom options - it’s hard to use any other player.

My 84 year-old mother is constantly targeted. It’s extremely frustrating. Luckily she is extremely sharp and spots them easily. But if she wasn’t, it would be a constant struggle. Email, text, and live phone calls are the typical approach.

100% correct about live broadcast. “Fix it in post” is not viable and shouldn’t be relied upon generally. My larger point was really about the distinguishing characteristics between “pro” and ”prosumer” are diminishing rapidly. When a minor

I’ve been involved in shooting video projects professionally for over 30 years. This question about the expense of “pro” gear is getting quite fuzzy. Most of my work has been as a contractor or freelancer and I’ve always believed in buying

Probably not relevant to the younger set here on HN: I became obsessed in the late 90’s with using a camera to photograph subjects and events that are hard to observe with the naked eye. (Examples include: spotted bats photographed in fligh
