My 84 year-old mother is constantly targeted. It’s extremely frustrating. Luckily she is extremely sharp and spots them easily. But if she wasn’t, it would be a constant struggle. Email, text, and live phone calls are the typical approach. I can’t count how many times people have claimed to be her grandson needing emergency funds (usually bail). She also gets fake invoices via USPS but I manage her mail so it never gets to her. It is never ending.
