Thanks! This saves a whole lot unnecessary syncing when working on projects (and 8% of my Dropbox storage). Yesterday, I actually wrote a Git Bash for Windows script: https://gist.github.com/Leftium/290422ceff5c4af16519

I think the OP is just using square brackets to tell HN the words inside are a placeholder for their query. (Google doesn't do anything special with the square brackets.)

When will anonymous (guest) accounts be available, and how will they work? Will there be a simple way to promote them to regular user accounts? As you may know, HN never fails to complain about having to create a new user account to try a s

I'm pretty sure your data is just stored locally in your browser. The only risk is maybe the domain stops working. You could use an archived version if you're worried about that: https://web.archive.org/web/20

HTML5+JS is the best stack for games that will work in the browser without installing any additional software. PixiJS and Phaser seem to be two great libraries. However, it is nontrivial to cheat in JS games. And I'm not aware of any g

I have a filter that automatically adds the "Sub" label to all emails that contain "unsubscribe." Then I have a bookmarklet to show me all emails without the "Sub" label. Works wonderfully.

I have an actual index fund of the top 200 coins minus stable coins via shrimpy.io. Shrimpy does all the calculations, then puts in the orders required to rebalance via an exchange's API. I think you can try the demo for free (with pla

I second Enpass. OP says "I've tried BitWarden and Enpass, but their integration is worse and they suffer from some of the same problems as 1Password (subscription/server-based, not really in control of own data, etc.)"

The website was very Korea-themed, so at first I thought it was a Korean company. However they must have different versions and detect your country based on IP address.

Some other comments have kind of covered this, but the biggest mistake I see is focusing on your product/company/self instead of the audience. The audience cares much more about themselves than you. So talk about the audience firs

In the cases where you need to go over 99F, Fahrenheit does not need a full digit. You only need two thin segments for the "1." Or you can double it up with the negative sign. It's big enough of a deal that most appliances do

OK, so: -30C to +38C is -22.0F to +100.4F exactly. Celsius can only represent 56% of your "habitable scale" without a negative sign. Fahrenheit can express 83% of the same scale without a negative sign. 1 degree C is equal to 1.47

I think you could pick the "fairly habitable" temperature range in pretty, round C temperatures, then convert to F and the argument would still hold. The main argument is not the prettiness of the numbers, but the need for decimal

But surely deriving the WBT couldn't change the unit of measurement? A measurement that has no unit is relative humidity. It is just a percentage. There is no way to measure relative humidity directly and get any other type of unit bes

After making a weather app that helps me switch between C/F temperatures, I came to the same conclusion as MKBHD: "Fahrenheit is better for weather..."[1] Fahrenheit roughly covers the scale of air temperatures experienced
