It's always fascinating to see how complex modern hardware actually is. Dozens of small processors with their own operating systems communicating with each other. I have a lot of respect for the engineers that they actually managed to

I wonder what he older math-education in german schools is like, probably also more hard-core. After elementary school, germany has a three tracks Gymnasium, Realschule und Hauptschule. A Gymnasium prepares one for university and is still w

how would you compare the workload in the other subjects in Germany vs France? And how would you rate the german math education?

I think machine learning researchers are well aware that successful optimisation is only possible using the right priors. This is explicit in bayesian machine learning but also implicit in neural networks in the choice of the architecture,

I think there's a possibility for a SW-developer, but I wonder whether that's even possible for other branches. If you don't have the required background (sufficiently advanced university degree) then you just don't have

I think Tesla is just in such trouble because they were building their factory without having all permits. They were allowed to do that, but had to get all the permits in the end. As I understood it Tesla then build stuff that are not usual

Do you know what happens when the engine burns the fuel? What gets released into the atmosphere? I know methane is a greenhouse gas but when it's getting burned it doesn't get released raw.

So this will run on Methane and Liquid Oxygen, right? Is it possible to source this CO2 neutral? Maybe it's not economical right now, but I wonder whether it's realistic to use renewables to produce the fuel in the near future. Th

Well, it's sure speculation on my part what the root cause is, but i think OpenAI is already trying to ensure the network generalises. It's just common behaviour for neural network to memorise frequent samples, so I think my guess

a markov chain can have an internal representation related to the intention of the user. I guess this example just got copied a lot and is therefore included multiple times in the training data, forcing the network to memorise it. Neural ne

I think the problem might be in the training data. Famous code examples are probably copied a lot and therefore appear multiple times in the training data, prompting the neural network to memorise it completely.

This is a great idea. I really like the concept of sleeper trains but I don't think they make sense for when for most national destinations. A german sleeper train network only has a few routes that are long enough. But when viewed fro

A lot of comments here saying that this will increase the cost of oil so make oil extraction more profitable. But I wonder, this won't increase demand, because it's increasing cost. So it's a net-win, right? Tar-Sand oil is s

Well, that's true but then the emergency personal could at least just be spread around in the city. I don't think the response time should be that critical, if the train is burning nobody is needed to drive it to the next station,

I don't get why the train attendant has to be able to move the train. That's not required in the driverless systems I know. Either the train is unable to move and has to stop immediately, or it tries to drive to the next station,
