Time for an OpenFold3? Or would it be an OpenFold2?

As a software engineer, I kind of feel uncomfortable about this new model. It outperforms Alphafold 2 at ligand binding, but Alphafold 2 also had some more hardcoded and interpretable structural reasoning baked into the model architecture.

I've done hobby gamedev in Bevy/Rust, Godot/C#, and Unity C#. It's honestly somewhat baffling to me that folks will choose Rust for gamedev right now. The state of the open sourced tools are just not there yet, especiall

Great writing. Great voice acting. Why the hell are all the non-pivotal scenes barely animated? Like in one episode an alien spaceship blows up and a static gif of an alien goes spinning around. Just compare that to the animation in Xmen &#

When I saw the title, I immediately thought of the show "Invincible" which had abysmal animation, and lo and behold, its right there are the top of the list.

I became a dad this year, and I've long been thinking that the perfect LLM startup idea really could be centered around collecting data as an insurance policy against dying. Justin Kan strapped a camera to himself over 20 years ago rec

It's silly to post a headline of a large operating loss when the unit was literally partitioned off a few months ago. Building fabs is expensive... literally the most cost intensive manufacturing enterprise in the world. Making those i

Intel's ARC chips are actually pretty good, and would be pretty competitive with NVIDIA for the gaming market if not for the drivers... NVIDIA has three decades of DirectX driver support for many, many old games. Intel's ARC GPUS

My experience has been... if you are competent enough to write a good prompt, you were probably good enough to write the code to being with. LLM copilots simply make that writing faster by 1.5x to 2x

Interesting. I think TLR-9 stands for toll-like receptor 9. And these toll proteins were originally studied in fruit fly dorsal ventral patterning and also play a role in the innate immune system which we share with insects. If this study i

Yep. In nature, the "writing" aspect is actually writing down a chunk of the virus's sequence to know what to attack in the future. It's a little 'ol immune system for yogurt bacteria!
