This goes far beyond TikTok. Twitch, Youtube, the jurisdictions of Canada, the UK, Australia... this is one thing I'm not willing to blame China for, I am just noting how close it is the same thing that China does.

I'm not blaming zoomers, no more than I am blaming chinese youth who have to talk about "aquatic producers" to avoid being censored for even discussing censorship. Ironically I tried looking for a list of officially banned wo

Are you saying censorship is fine because people can just use other words? There really is no point engaging with you then.

It is, but it will get you banned. Has no one else noticed the rise of censorship evading slang among zoomers? Eg saying "unalive" instead of "kill". I remember there was a big file with a bunch of these for chinese yout

Youtube has a long running partnership with the ADL, an influential zionist organisation in America. Here's an article from 2008, from the Jersualem Post. https://www.jpost.com/Jewish-World/Jewish-News/ADL-You

I think the sort of people who push "climate change anxiety" and espouse theories about "late stage capitalism" are a huge, huge part of the problem. Near every communist I've met was miserable.

TBH I mainly just like it because the configuration file is a single line. It also never even occured to me for sudo or doas to log anything, so there's that. Also, I don't have sudo installed at all on my system, and everything s

Love the man pages, love doas (I use it on my main linux machine), love that it has an HTTP server in the main install. But the filesystem is so basic that people recommend a UPS just so your data doesn't get corrupted during a power o

Not an issue if all if you know how to touch type and aren't reliant on the labels for the keys. I'm typing this very message on a keyboard that has no labels at all, it's all muscle memory.

NZ feels behind Australia in most ways. But in this area we're ahead. It's slightly insane to me a country as wealthy as yours still has this sort of thing going on.

Yes: even if you are not aware of it, each one of you are looking for ways to get away from the modern world. We all are. All the time. There are two kinds of people in our modern western world: exhausted people and liars. I laughed out l

My most popular youtube video was a reaction to Theo actually, where he talked about how unit testing was stupid and I said it was great. He has a lot of haters. I do kind of see why.

That seems unlikely. From wiktionary: From Middle English you, yow, ȝow (object case of ye), from Old English ēow (“you”, dative case of ġē), from Proto-Germanic iwwiz (“you”, dative case of jīz), Western form of izwiz (“you”, dative ca
