Prices are relative. Not many folks in the US are buying $50 smartphones. Sure, you can buy a smart phone that is $50, but it sure is a crappy smartphone, at least in the US. We're talking about US market here, obviously. Obviously the

You don’t actually want to be able to hit most chips with light. There’s efforts to encapsulate some WCSP devices in opaque coatings specifically because the silicon itself can be affected by light. Here’s an example of this behavior report

The gray area is the problem. There's tons and tons of food that is likely healthy, but would meet the "ultra-processed" definition due to including certain ingredients. If those get lumped into the pile, then what is the stu

If you’re lifting off the throttle enough to activate regen braking, you would be applying the friction brakes in a car as well. Maintaining a steady speed is more efficient than varying speed, but if you have to vary speed then one pedal d

Yet adding xanthum gum or any sort of thickening agents to a food would make it ultra processed. Both of those have no nutritional value. Why does nutritional value have any relation to if something is ultra processed? It certainly doesn’t

In an office setting, 2k steps a day is literally nothing. You can get 2k steps by going on a leisurely stroll for 15 minutes. If you work in a large office building, you could be getting 2k steps just by walking to your desk and back from

This is a whole heck of a lot of assumptions and hurdles they’ve described to get anywhere close to that $1/kg price… I wish them well, but 2027 isn’t too far away here.

Good ones do all sorts of tricks, including closed loop control and special pwm pulse trains… that doesn’t mean pwm is inherently flawed though.

What do you mean? Class D amps are essentially PWM driven amplifiers. Essentially any speaker in existence offers enough low pass filtering to be directly wired to the amplifier, as well.

These truthy articles seem to be only correct by accident. The reality is if you cut out sugar, you tautologically get more calories from fat and protein. You need protein to maintain muscles, and most folks get fat too little protein in th

Then we're at an impasse because that sort of black-and-white position is clearly untenable and leads to ridiculous policy decisions that are unhelpful to society. Chocolate bars or cocoa in general are shown to have anti-oxidant prope

I’ve read the classifications, and the problem is that almost any prepared food would automatically make it category 4. Can we agree that a chocolate bar and a Twinkie are wildly different levels of healthiness? It isn’t the category 4 defi

I think the point of GP is that the definition is wildly overbroad. What is actually the cause of the unhealthiness? You can't just lump EVERYTHING into ultra-processed or it becomes noise. Liquor and a chocolate bar are clearly not th

Battery longevity is related to number of charge cycles… which means for equivalent efficiency, larger range vehicles will last much longer (in terms of mileage) before needing a battery replacement. I don’t know why the Leaf or the crappy
