So what you're saying is we need FoundationDB-like layers on top of the fundamental data store? :D

You usually want ACID, but with N+1 queries not being a problem you no longer need SQL. The database can now be a really low-level key-value store with your favorite query language on top.

The price increase required by the higher quality of software is roughly a fixed factor. The benefits that come from code reuse are exponential. If a government can't afford to release the sources in public right away, a gradual transi

When Stallman says "free as in free speech, not free beer", he means freedom to use software in any way you want including changing it. Not zero price.

You could play with friends of friends of friends. We can make software for making these checks automatically and transitively, and automatically distribute responsibility when someone is found cheating.

The danger with DerefMut is that one may accidentally allow violating the type's invariant. Same with Deref when interior mutability is present.

It seems there are several independent ideas somewhat mixed together. The idea number 0 is component interfaces. They seem equivalent to plain old interfaces in all the other languages. (Except some reflection may be necessary in statically

It should be possible to encode those constraints as part of the language. For example, the distinction between sync and async calls can be represented by having a Future type and wrapping the return type in it.
