Bullshit. Nobody forces you to live in an expensive city. Nobody makes you buy a million dollar house. You chose your own destiny. Stop putting the blame on others. I lived in Chicago on a $800/mo salary for a year and a half. Yes eigh

I personally follow Google in what I support unless the project I am working on is specifically for older browsers. My idea is if Google who owns a huge market share of the web can drop it, it's safe to say so can I.

Microsoft themselves aren't going to be supporting IE8 anymore after January. Let it go.

Isomorphic does not mean works without JavaScript. Actually you need JavaScript turned on for isomorphic to work. On a related topic, I hate the term isomorphic. It's just JavaScript.

But if the author needs to add content, they need to use the generator, if they're using an interface, they're no longer on a static site.

You're in luck. By putting it in blacklist mode, when you blacklist the site with uBlock Origin it's only temporary. After time it resets itself, unless after you black list it you click the lock.

Your example about Ars Technica is perfect. They do it great and in a very tasteful way. I applaud them. The issue lies in that all the people who do it bad, The Verge, etc ruin it for Ars Technica. Why? Because the ads on The Verge are so

So you have a service you're offering, I sign up and pay your small fee, and then share my login details with thousands of others, making you lose money. In the same sense as all the arguments against ads. You're not stealing anyt

Like mentioned above, when you sign up with the service, you're giving the card info and then you're automatically enrolled in a 2 week trial that will automatically charge afterwords. This should suffice. I don't think they&

So how would we describe Node.js in this sense? It's not a framework, and it's not a language.

Former PHP developer gone Node.js. I agree. PHP has come a long way and doing very well. PHP powers the 2nd biggest website on the internet. Not too shabby.

Most people who come to Node from other languages are running monolithic apps and are looking to replace those apps with the same MVC structure, just in their new language. Sails is one of those frameworks. Express and Koa on the otherhand

Worthwhile PHP developers are not cheap either. Unless you mean WordPress developers. (no, they're not PHP developers, they're WordPress developers. They only know WordPress)

shhhhhh, it's to new and trendy. This thread inspired me. I am giving up JavaScript completely and am writing a browser in Fortran that only allows Fortran servers and Fortran in the browser. I mean, everything else is new and trendy.

I agree, lets not use hot and trendy, who needs any of that? Rails? TO TRENDY! Lets use Fortran and COBOL!

Just devils advocate here but I highly doubt you never performed a search for rails again. I am very proficient in NodeJS, but I'm searching daily with the term for helping fix a bug I have. I am having an issue with es6 classes, I don

Yeah but still $234/yr for a certificate. While I appreciate what you're doing to make things more simple, that's pretty expensive. I can't wait until letsencrypt is done.
