Fonts are not trivial to parse; 900 fonts also isn't a lot in a professional environment. If you're looking at every font every app launch it's definitely a problem in itself.

Note that the Graphing Calculator story is not something that could work after approximately the turn of the century. Security tightened up considerably sometime around then.

Yes. Firing someone should always be a last resort; generally it means either that the person is hopelessly, irredeemably unfit for the job, or that you are incompetent at leading people. If your hiring processes are worth anything, the for

How did they manage that? GenX wasn't generally subject to the onerous student debt mess. For everyone over 50, college was much cheaper and easier to get into. If nothing else, the population was smaller!

This is how you wind up with fundamentally slow systems that can’t be easily sped up. You need to take some account of performance in systems design. Just don’t micro-optimize too soon.

Multiple monitor support had caveats, IIRC, that contemporary Macs did not. Possibly the bit depth of all of the monitors had to be identical, or you'd get dithering on some?

I only have experience with OpenStep 4.x on PC hardware, but I feel like you may be vastly underplaying the speed gain from then to now, unless NeXTstep on black hardware really felt that much faster than on one of the blessed 486 configura

I'm skeptical that Singapore's policy is working as opposed to driving the drug trade underground. Draconian drug restrictions haven't worked in the US, and the death penalty wouldn't do anything here.

I’ve had lots of USB mini/micro B ports do this on various devices (not C so far). I’ve never even heard of it happening to a Lightning port, and I’ve been through a lot of iDevices over the past decade.
