Alternative method: Drink too much beer, accidentally break 1000 dollar iPhone, realize that you don’t want to pay another 1000, so you force yourself to go 6 months without a phone as punishment. Conclusion: it was inconvenient at first, b

Completely agree. The sad part is that I know many Chinese people who have studied in the United States and want to stay, but we do not make it even remotely easy to do so.

I wonder if Google having a stronger presence and relationships in China, even if censored, would in fact be a better alternative than not having a presence in China. Another way the west can influence China and its direction is from the in

That makes sense. I probably overlooked the difference between grammatically correct and sounding natural. Chinese (and Japanese) have such a different cultural background that I also find the "natural way" to speak is quite diffe

I agree with your sentiment. I do prefer studying from books, but really try to just take a multifaceted approach: speak everyday, watch movies/tv, read native materials/bed/etc, also use chinese language study books. I was c

I find it pretty rare not to be able to group words to be honest. I do agree with your first points however.

People talk. In China I've also heard people say that even if they don't know all the details, they know something happened.

I would say it doesn't really matter much as both are readable. I would prefer either the original if/else or the ternary solution over the last solution as I personally think the intent is not as immediately clear in your "m

I wish I could upvote this more. I encounter this very often in discourse. I extend this to logic and philosophy as well. Without maintaining both the rigor and the creativity of reasoning, only a hollow shell remains.

Haha I counted to 32,000 once when I was around 7/8 years old. All I remember is it taking multiple days and my mouth was dry and sore. Props to counting to a million!

This makes me wish I took more screenshots of my old websites. My personal sites have had some very fun evolutions, including some outrageous styles/themes. May have to checkout the Wayback Machine. I’ve migrated from Wordpress, to rai

My sane comment is certainly a joke. I think self confirmation of that would be quite difficult indeed haha In terms of seeing red the same. I think you are misinterpreting what I mean by “seeing”, I’m not talking about the chemical process

This short and brief response is also to @bena, I have struggled with this a lot. I can completely understand the notion to discount such experience. My conclusion is that this seemingly can not be "proven" in the traditional sens

1) I mildlt disagree with this. There are lots of amazingly written Java libraries, and not all teams or people write “over enterprises code. I’ve seen dubious code quality on both ends of the spectrum in many languages. I do not think this
