Are determinism and dualism considered to be one-in-the-same? I tend to think of dualism as being a sort of fundamental duality for example "nothing - something" or they way I prefer to word them, "something - not something&q

Having worked on modeling data and sharing results with customers, I agree simpler solutions can be better for ease of explaining alone. Additionally, the loss of x percent accuracy with lower-tech solutions can sometimes be worth it becaus

This is amazing! Superb remake. :) I’m happy and sad. Happy because MS Paint is amazing and now having it in web form is great. Sad because I was just talking about doing this this week for hackathon. I ultimately did something else, and pr

In regards to learning Cantonese, I have no immediate plans to learn Cantonese and would rather continue learning Korean. But for the next block of foreseeable future I've decided to double down on Chinese/Japanese so that I'

I have much more experience with Japanese. I started Japanese a year earlier than Chinese and studied them concurrently after that. I also studied abroad in Japan for a year. I have also written/read/used Japanese considerably mor

I think Chinese is also easier to get started with. Chinese actually does have a "romaji" like alphabet called "pinyin". Most Chinese books will start with pinyin and will often have either pinyin written above the chara

I think the primary focus was relative difficulty amongst languages. I found picking up conversational Chinese to be about 1.5-2x easier than Japanese due to how different Japanese grammar was than English. Similarly, Spanish is far easier

I saw a few comments regarding the difficulty of languages within Category V. Particularly Japanese/Chinese. I speak Mandarin Chinese and Japanese on a near daily basis, and definitely consider Japanese to be more difficult than Chines

Indeed, I had not considered that. I may have been used to people saying that links shouldn't be posted twice. The extra context is in fact nice!

Quite a while ago, not sure if that's a problem. It's a pretty great write up and worthy of posting again. For me, this was the first time seeing it.

Yes and no. It’s written in a “Rick” style of talking, while linking to lots of philosophical principles. An unfamiliar reader would have to read between the lines a bit.

Given your very clear and strong stance that this is something you won't ever try, of which I don't have any issue with, I won't spend a lot of time debating this statement. But, your analogy with getting a lobotomy to enjoy

I wasn't trying to convince you of anything. You asked if psychedelic experiences are fun. I responded with an attempt at a more "complete" explanation. i.e. It's a full-mind experience. It encompasses all your known fe

That's a very good way to describe it. I hadn't thought about it, but indeed, every time I "grasp" something, it unfolds/collapses/opens/transforms into something else, (over and (over and (over and (...))

That's pretty much how I ended up taking 5 tabs. I definitely learned my lesson, but am very grateful I did it. My second trip with 1 tab was not even remotely comparable nor as enlightening. I actually haven't done it since (defi

I also want to be careful that people don't do acid because they think it's going to be "fun." They will likely be in for a large surprise if they do. They should instead be prepared and do it safely. It's a lot dif

I don't know if "desirable" is a suitable word for describing psychedelic experience. You don't really get to pick the outcome. The outcome largely depends on your inner self. I don't know if any words can truly do
