I think the fact that you’re allowed to bring most[0] foods on a plane is not well advertised. I always travel with sandwiches that I either make at home or buy. Throw it in your carry on bag and eat it whenever you want. [0]: some restrict

I don't think this criticism is helpful. Why do any products have a free tier and a paid professional/business tier? The goal is A) to get me to use it enough in personal projects that I convince my manager to pay for a business l

There's a really good iOS app called Proxyman[0] (the Mac app is also excellent) that lets you view HTTP requests that apps make from inside iOS. If you're curious about this sorta stuff, I definitely recommend checking it out. [0

I think the confusion is that that’s not the “real reason” to get a sound bar; just one of the reasons. The more common reason is still: it sounds better than your TVs built in speakers.

I imagine this is one of those extremely common situations where the law doesn’t matter. Even if you are entitled to some compensation, how are you going to get it? The only recourse is taking them to court which will end up costing your ti

I’d love a database of monitors with good DDC/CI support. You can’t just assume a good or high end monitor will work as you want it to. My Samsung, for example, supports DDC/CI for HDMI but not DisplayPort, so I have to choose bet

You should see if there are carshare options around you. Even if you’re spending $50/weekend (which is a fair amount of driving — Communauto is as low as $3/hr), that’s still quite a bit cheaper than owning a depreciating asset wi

Dominos is pretty modern as far as restaurants go. There’s even an API for several platforms[0], and integrations with IFTTT, Home Assistant, etc. In university, I helped my dorm neighbour build a big red button that would order a pizza and

The F-91W is a cult classic but lacks a lot of nice features (for example, a backlight that stays on for a couple seconds after you release the button, alarm snooze, and dual time display). I love my W-800H though. Still has a 10 year batte

This is cool and pretty funny. I’m curious what the prompts look like, since everyone I talked was short with me and told me to quit wasting their time (which I guess is pretty in line with their characters).

A few years back I was tasked with building a deep learning workstation for my work (small startup). I put everything together, did a bit of research on which distributes to use, and put the PopOS image on a USB. This was done by 4pm so I t

I don’t think I would buy a car that didn’t have CarPlay. I’m an iPhone user and have no interest in changing my phone. People reject cars all the time for even more trivial things (oh — this one doesn’t have wireless charging? Next.), so I

This is neat. Looks like the author wants to manufacture this as a product, which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to be honest. The novelty of this is using an LLM to make pithy poems. There are under 1500 minute in a day, so the obvious

Why? Do you ever worry about exercising because the air is a finite resource? In a perfect world electricity would be free. It would be so abundant you wouldn’t have to worry about using it. Of course, this implies that the energy is 100% g

For anyone unfamiliar, docopt is an established standard for specifying arguments in a script’s doc string. I use it for Python and it’s lovely. You’re going to write a docstring with examples anyway, why not make them functional? http:&#x

You’re not entirely wrong; you do need “Xcode Command Line Tools”. Thankfully, that’s a much smaller bundle than Xcode. It contains a bunch of tools for building code, such as llvm, ld, make, and git.

It’s interesting that people don’t associate the X in Mac OS X with “10”. MacOS is now on version 13*, so calling it Mac OS X is like saying “the current version of Windows 7” Edit: whoops, Ventura is version 13. Thanks!
