You can, but it's not obvious that it's an option. I'd be willing to bet that the signup UI was deliberately designed to make it look like a phone number is required.

Yeah, I just ran into something similar a few days ago. Every once in a while I used to go through all my trading cards and bulk sell all my duplicates for a few cents each, but apparently now they require you to use some combination of SM

Can confirm, have a physics PHD friend who is now doing primarily programming work. I, for one, welcome our new physicist overlords!

Yeah, I've always been slightly uncomfortable with the level of tracking in Steam as well. Mostly the notifications to friends when I start and stop playing a game, but the total hours count as well. I guess I take partial solace in t

I seriously miss gChat/Talk. It was an app that did one thing and did it well, with no other BS. It served the user, not the company. And of course we can't have that, now can we?

I'm not really a fan of removing comments sections entirely - proper moderation is possible, it just takes more time and manpower than most sites are willing to commit. I think you're being extremely disingenuous here though. Ha

What's interesting to me is that a lot of times these things are somewhat open for interpretation depending on your definition of a monopoly, where the line is drawn between good business decisions and anti-competitive behavior, etc.

There's definitely a cutthroat competition going on between Facebook and Snapchat, but even more generally I think it's that any app which is primarily designed for communication will eventually feel pressure from their users to e

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification. As a side note, I wanted to check if that was really the case so I just created a new twitter account to test with, and even with the "Tailor Twitter based on my recent website visits" opt

Ok, ignoring all the other Trump stuff in the post for the moment, I'm confused about something. At the end, he claims to be shadowbanned on Twitter, yet a quick check of his twitter account shows his last tweet was 4 hours ago, and h
