The poster above you is why I decided to just work as a software engineer instead. It was such a depressing and bleak field. Thank you for having another opinion!

Which one? This wasn't really true in quite a lot of cases of Amazon recommendations. Usually it's just kinda smart engineers.

Would you consider issues to be easily measurable in terms of work required? Given more time would you clean up those unit tests and cover some additional cases?

FP (specifically the Haskell / Scala style) is easier to reason about in large scale applications. In particular, when using distributed systems. Two reasons: Immutability guarentees that the variable name changes when the underlying d

I may have heard of such a thing happening at another company. Certain personalities just can't seem to help themselves.

I've been writing software for 14 years. I've done it professionally for almost 2. There aren't many interesting problems professionally (and early-career you don't get many). I'm getting bored and stupid, but god

Oh man. I was a junior and had a (non-technical) manager that started as a pushover (yes, do anything you want) then compared me to a factory worker making doors faster. We outright fought in 1-1's for 9 months. Which left me emotional

Perspective. There's no necessity to constantly change partners. The point was that people adapt and keep wanting more. I'm a stoic (largely by nature) and have enjoyed polyamory. Dated a hedonist.

This is helpful. I check linked-in just to see what exists fairly frequently and dress in random attire depending on what laundry is done (sometimes really nice, sometimes shorts). I'd never really considered it as something that meant

But it also means that we're neutering some really important mechanisms of human development. It seems very costly to squeeze out those teensy little bits of extra safety.

Anecdote: I had been programming for ~12 years consistently by the time I got my first job. Almost entirely for fun. I'd managed to get jaded with software (especially commercial software) by this time. I'm considering going back

1. Would open source work help? 2. I was homeschooled (read: self-taught in grade school), my work ethic primarily kicks in at home. How can I use this to help me land an interview?

Any guesses on that? I'm making a decent bit into 6 figures if benefits like stock is accounted for with one year of industry existence.
