My understanding is that these rules affect everyone in the world who sells into the EU. It doesn't matter if you are located in the US or South Africa or Australia - you will still be expected to account for VAT and submit the returns

Even more to the point - Kenya and Tanzania have had M-Pesa (which allows payments and transfers via mobile phones) since 2007 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-Pesa ). Note that this is not necessaries smart phone stuff

Unfortunately it is also one of the least favourite things about riding a motorcycle - always having to look out for car drivers who are not paying full attention to the road.

No, this is only partly true. Driving is primarily a visual activity. If your eyes are not on the road, then your chances of an accident increase. If you are looking down at your mobile, then the chances of an accident increase markedly. Ye

That's about ~273 miles per day on average. If we take out weekends, then we get an average of ~383 miles. For someone to do that every day for 8 years and still do sales work would be some kind of endurance feat.

Just because something it easy does not make it the right choice. Conversely, it is a bad choice because it teaches you bad practices and you will be forced to implement so many hacks on any reasonable sized project. Just don't use it.

No, don't even think of learning CodeIgniter. Besides being pretty much dead (version 3 has been coming out for, what, about 2 years now?), it has terrible architecture. The superglobal singleton is just awful and will kill you slowly.
