I took a look at Rive a while ago. The thing that made it a no go was the lack of local file saving. There is a lot I really, really liked about it, but without local file saving it did not feel like a serious product to do serious work. I

If you are describing what I think you are describing, I get the same thing when I smell a very specific smell from my childhood. It has happened a few times walking past a house and the smell brings this kind of nostalgic zap in my head.

Thanks for sharing your story. TBH, if I hadn’t also had my single strange experience with psychedelics I probably wouldn’t have believed it. I know when I describe my own mushrooms story, sometimes I can sense a discomfort from certain lis

I have tried contact lenses, but it seems they keep rotating around slightly and don’t match the angle of my astigmatism exactly, causing my vision to become blurry. I don’t know if it was a bad fit, but my optometrist told me it is because

The Polyend Tracker is a cool piece of hardware. I’ve made a few decent tracks with it but I do find it tricky to get a nice sounding foundation. I’ve been eyeing of the Tracker + More recently I have been playing with the Dirtywave M8, but

One thing I like about the codegen approach is that the generated code provides a snapshot of the changes through time in my Git history, which I refer to quite often. Thanks for sharing feTS. It looks pretty awesome and I will be checking

I was responding to your point specifically about manually writing code in typed languages, highlighting that there are solutions to avoid that. I am not dismissing your use of GraphQL.

If you use OpenAPI/Swagger you can most likely generate the client code along with the types. I use the npm package below, and it just seems to work simply without any headaches. https://github.com/hey-api/openapi-

Did you come across Verlet Integration [1]? It is quite convincing and usable for a lot of use cases, and is actually quite simple. I surprised myself when I was able to create a basic physics systems in a couple of hours with this great tu

I would also say Redux. Even though I grew to dislike Redux, understanding the power of reducers was quite mind blowing. And further I would throw in Tanstack/Redux query.

I want to be able to put a “block” in my calendar and every day it automatically schedules in tasks from my todo list, maybe prioritizing time to “benefit”. It would be smart enough to shuffle in recurring tasks periodically. I love working

I’m curious, have you tried nose strips? [1] I recently realized that my nostrils slightly collapse inwards when I breath through my nose. The nose strips seem to help me enough to make nose breathing comfortable. [1] https://the

Two high profile examples, Celeste and Deadcells use Monogame and Heaps (Haxe). They weren’t ported to Unity. Celeste and Towerfall Ascension are two examples of very high quality games that bucked the trend and just used a low level render

You and the others are missing the whole point. This isn’t meant to be an Unreal or Unity replacement. And besides that point, what is wrong with the “kid” stuff. A bunch of masterpieces have been created in such kid stuff. Celeste, Hotline

I partially agree with your comment. It is more likely that I imagine the “forms” of a “car” which are colourless, but if I had to imagine a Holden Commodore (which my father owned) it would be much less abstract and definitely red. Most d

It should also be mentioned that you can go very, very far with absolutely abysmal code quality when making a game, and you can waste an insane amount of time attempting to lay a solid code foundation. Also, inheritance is not evil.

You might be very surprised at how achievable it is to build a game, as long as you start small and limit your scope. I’d to steer clear of turn based games if you are starting out, as they generally entail a lot of complicated UI. Instead

I gotta disagree that PixiJS is fast. I’ve worked with a bunch of 2D graphics engines going back to the Flash days, and I found it’s really easy to hit a wall with PixiJS performance, especially if you are using text and filters. I wouldn’t
