This is about desktop market share. Even though Steam Deck has KDE on it, out of the box it boots into Steam and I suspect it is enough for majority of users.

I have been using Wordpress auto updates for many years now, works great. Once in a while I have to also `docker compose pull` to update the PHP version (~once a year?) Hosting up to date Wordpress instance requires no effort. And Wordpress

Thanks for the suggestion, but it has put several important features behind an expensive paywall. I understand people want to earn money but something as essential as this should somehow be free and available to everyone. Not sure how exact

Yes, they are, but once it is built, you can store it so you do not have to run it every time and in every environment.

I thought so too ~10 years ago but switched to docker on all my machines some years ago. For me personally it seems much easier to manage docker-compose and Dockerfiles than individually managing lxc/lxd containers. And I do have some

How does it work? Youtube for a long time now has been serving video ads from the same domain names as videos so you can not block video ads on DNS level. As far as I know, the only way to block ads is by using ad blocker in a browser, or m

That is not true. Maybe it is your experience but it is not universal. And you have to look at that particular device you used. Depending on the distro you most likely will have to do additional configuration to enable different power savin

If you don't mind ditching Macos, you can get it natively on Apple silicon mac by running Linux on it. https://asahilinux.org/

This requires Linux specific features. The only way you are getting this on Macos is the same way you are getting "Docker on Macos" - by running a virtualised Linux machine.

I set up Keycloak using Docker and it was very simple to do. I did not really try authentik yet since all the advanced features I needed worked with Keycloak, but I do have it running in a container to play with at some point in time.

I use Zabbix and Grafana. Grafana has a zabbix data source plugin so you can have best of both worlds really.

I installed Linux on Macbook Air 2012 the day I bought it in 2012. I actually still have it in use. :) Back then the driver support was great, until I think 2014 when the security chip was introduced and a few drivers were missing for some

Linux gaming for CS2 will be relevant only when major desktop environments (Gnome and KDE) fully implement Wayland screen tearing control and adaptive sync. Overall input lag on Linux is too high for competitive shooters.

I have been using Arch for more than 10 years and it is great. It has great Wiki to start using it, and it is very stable considering it is a rolling release distro. Back in the day Ubuntu upgrades were extremely painful for me because I ha

Steam Deck is great device but it saddens me that it has a very poor game catalogue for kids (~5 years). Either the games are not there or it is very hard to find them on Steam. I wish they introduced some separate section, similarly as Net

Same as on Desktop. They are terribly slow, resource hungry, update automatically. On a bit older desktop I have seen it take 5-10 seconds just to start Chromium. And not the initial start after fresh install, it happens every single time.

For some reasons they ship it with servers as well. So the first task after getting ubuntu up and running, you have to uninstall snap.

What is there really? There is docker swarm, which doesn't seem to be really further developed, and... what else? This whole space seems to be neglected since cloud providers are trying to sell k8s to big company "devops"guys

k8s is an industry standard currently, but it is not great. The lack of available free/open tooling to set up and manage them (the cluster) properly seems to indicate that it is also a way of selling it (cloud). Meaning that if you wan

There is no such thing as "saving money in cloud". It is all about convenience and it always costs more than a smart team could achieve elsewhere. I tend to hear an argument that it is cheaper since you do not have to pay people t
