I agree with all of that, honestly. What I think is going to change is the belief by the company that WFH is undesirable. Most companies, even those that allow remote work, would prefer that everyone be in the office. There are tons of comp

I think society will remain largely the same on the surface. Underneath, we'll see some interesting changes from an American perspective. Here are a few off the top of my head: 1. The Cat's Out of the Bag - So many things can'

Given that these are the five most popular series in modern fantasy, you've certainly got good taste! I'm always on the prowl for new books to read. Do you have any favorite SF/F books that are less well known? Here's a

Can you elaborate a bit on what features were added on top of the standard library or other popular libraries? A lot of this stuff is very similar to viper (configuration), mux (routing), gorm (database), so I'm wondering if there are

Ah, gotcha. That makes a lot more sense. If you were asking them to write a linked list implementation from scratch, I'd have a lot more questions. Having an already-implemented LL and modifying that is a lot more reasonable. Thanks!

For anyone downvoting, it's a serious question. We're debating these kinds of algorithms as interview questions at my job, and I was curious what this brings to the table versus, say, building a CRUD API or constructing SQL querie

Sort of off-topic, but I'm interested in how often you reverse a linked list at your job. Is that something that you expect people to be able to do? If so, what does it tell you about them? If they don't know what a linked list is

I think I didn't communicate that part well. I don't get status emails because the people who should be sending the emails are holding meetings instead :) These are "should have been emails" meetings. For example, you

Good feedback. I've already brought it up with my team. So far, most of them appear to be fine with it, whereas two people seem very upset about it. I'm still trying to figure out how to handle them, but it really does have to hap

I strongly believe that you don't get what you don't ask for. Nobody is going to advocate for your career except for yourself. IMO, the best strategy is to have a frank conversation with your boss. You basically have two options:

Couple of things: 1. Don't read the slides. We can all read. Give us additional context that the slide doesn't have. But... 2. If the slide communicates clearly and concisely what you need to say, don't keep talking for the s

This isn't specific to code comments, but one soft skill that everyone should learn is how to have conversations with high stakes. The code changes might not be high stakes, but having a good relationship with your peer is very high st

The tactic that worked for me was to bring it up to my boss. I set up a 1:1 with him, and said "In 2-3 years, I want your job. How can I get there?" (and "want your job" obviously means "to do what you do" not

Gotcha. That's difficult. What I recommend, then, is that you decide what your career goal is and bring that up as a long-term goal. In a lot of interviews, they'll ask you where you see yourself in 5 years, and people give whatev

I highly recommend the book "I Will Teach You To Be Rich" by Ramit Sethi. It's an easy read and is a pretty fool-proof way to set up your finances. Any moderately successful person would probably give you the same advice, but
