Related to this, I'm kind of shocked that there isn't a strong third option for OSes. We've got Windows and MacOS, sure, but the nix ecosystem is so fragmented and not as well supported as the other two that it's hard t

I'm sure there are. There's a team at my company (retail, not UPS) whose sole responsibility is figuring out how to optimize getting from Point A to Point B. At least 6 people on the team, probably more involved that I don't

This is anecdotal, but I've asked about twenty or so UPS drivers that I've met over the years whether they avoid turning left or not, and they all just laugh and say "No, that's dumb." Either they're messing wi

I've often wondered the same thing. Seems like Apple is winning because everyone else just gave up, but what that should really mean is that it's ripe for disruption. I'd love to have a Linux machine that looks good physicall

I wake up, put on my running gear, and run out the door. I do 5k per day, which takes about 30 minutes. There are two decent routes near my house with minimal traffic lights. One of them is relatively flat and the other has a moderate size

Depends on the experience level and number of engineers they are managing. First, my philosophy on management is that you are constantly asking yourself two questions: 1) How can I help you? (e.g., unblock you, mentor you, take stress off y
