It was the closest thing I could think of - not trying to undermine the work in/value of Snow Leopard (I don't know enough about it to make that judgement call). Apologies if that's how it sounded. (Esp. as one could call Windows 7 the much

The Snow Leopard upgrade only works if you're already running Leopard. It's the equivalent of a Service Pack on Windows (which are, incidentally, free). Windows 7 can be installed on any machine you like, no previous versions required.

Don't understand the comparison of the Mac upgrade vs. Windows 'upgrade'. The Mac upgrade is not an OS in its own right - it is only an upgrade. Windows 7 is an entirely different OS. Feel like I missed something, there... Edit: see below

Perhaps I'm misreading your analysis but it seems to me you're suggesting that the US visitor count for each of those sites is 8.9 million people total? I would suggest it's actually much lower - the chances are that the people who use redd

One of our clients who has the biggest percentage of IE6 users sells a lot to education. Are you going to foot the bill to upgrade all of the metaphorical lead pipework in every education establishment in the UK? No, I didn't think so.

I don't now, but have worked in 3 different locations where IE6 was forced on its users. All education. They have different financial priorities than spending time on upgrading software that "just works".

This is what a lot of people fail to get - designers in particular. Sure, they may think they're cool because their 'made in the bedroom' portfolios exclude IE users, but when faced with real world situations away from the arty farty tools

Assuming I can't get to my blog - which is my preferred method, as it forces me to be clear and concise - I scribble with pencil and paper.

A friend of mine posted about her MBP overheating in the Apple forums and was promptly banned. I understand not wanting negative press, but surely covering it up is only going to cause bigger controversy in the long run?

I wish more shopping sites were like yours. I just found some neat stuff I like within seconds. Even on Amazon which is fairly usable, there's so much crap to distract your eye it becomes ridiculous.

Likewise, although in my case it's often unintentional! I wrote a satirical post on the elderly called "Old People Suck" and spent 3 years trying to get rid of regular searchers looking for porn containing, well... use your imagination.

Yes, but I don't watch it that often. It's an old TV that was given to us by my partner's Nan, and as it still works we refuse to upgrade to one of those huge, new-fangled, power-hungry plasma jobbies. (Don't have sky/cable/whatever though.

You can report them to twitter by way of direct message to http://twitter.com/spam (although none of the spammers I've reported have been removed) You can also block them, but I don't think this achieves much. Alternatively, just ignore t

About 6 years ago I was running a "top list" script that was exploited. They planted a backdoor in an obscure folder, so that even after I removed the script they got in again twice. Took me a week to dig out every dodgy file they'd put in.

I don't want to take a look at the site because I'm at work, and value my job, but do you encourage any of the site users to help weed out the crap? I have a few communities and admittedly, they're not webcam oriented (which likely helps),
