It only works for VSCode? This is so frustrating because this is exactly the kind of system I've been looking for.

> The question is really do politicians in the US have the balls... Exactly. Authoritarianism works really well during a pandemic. But it isn't the American "way," so we're stuck with coronavirus.

> Obviously you can't do a true, 100%, lockdown like that If you're willing to ration food and other resources, a lot of options open up. Nobody wants to rip the bandaid off, though, so we're stuck in limbo.

Bret Weinstein (the evolutionary biologist) has argued for a new, "brief but intense" lockdown. We know so much more about the virus now than we did back in March, we might yet be able to orchestrate a way to suffocate the virus c

There's a command called M-x lsp-doctor that will tell you if you meet all the performance requirements for LSP mode. Among those is emacs 27 compiled with native json support (you can build emacs 27 without native json).

The Emacs community should start by perfecting lsp-mode so that it can compete with VS Code in terms of functionality. That will simultaneously keep power users from switching AND bring in people from other "easy to use" editors t

Right. And in the second half of my comment I explained why your reasoning is faulty. You must think the natural and artificial worlds as being self-similar. Think them as one continuous, self-organizing process.

Bingo. Self-organization, in a strong sense, is the process of cosmological evolution.

It is possible to accept everything you say except for the last sentence. Technology is the result of the evolutionary process of the universe. If the process resembles its own result, that shouldn't come as a surprise.

Exactly. If you get rid of the police, the wealthy elite will just hire thugs to protect their stuff.

> The police are the ones who are practically preventing the redistribution of the wealth. Policing prevents, and makes possible, all sorts of things. It is a function of law. By abolishing policing you throw out the baby (the law) with
