Looks awesome, unfortunately it's not residential. The cost of a place like this plus accomodation in Barcelona would be too much for me. Something like this but with basic accomodation included would be amazing. I'm not sure whet

Ok, I know it's not exactly the same thing but anyone who was a nerdy kid in the UK in the 90s will remember Gamesmaster. What an awesome show! Thanks for the nostalgia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GamesMaster

I've noticed an improvement in my vision if I pull outwards on the skin next to my eyes, which I think is the effect you're talking about. I don't know how you could make it permanent though.

When I was a kid I HATED being short-sighted, and I got into reading about the Bates method and other "natural vision improvement" techniques. I tried all the exercises, read all the books. I just eventually realised that these pe

I could be wrong, but I think the implants used to correct myopia are normally fixed-focus, and sit in front of the eye's natural lens rather then replacing it, so you don't lose the natural ability to focus close up (accommodatio

Myopia has a large genetic component, but genetics cannot explain the recent rapid increase in myopia, so there must be a pretty strong environmental component as well. But we're only just beginning to understand what that environmenta

If the synthetic eyeballs don't arrive, I wonder if by 2050 we'll have more options for correcting myopia. Right now we basically have 4 options, and they're all imperfect: 1. Suspend a lens in front of the eye (glasses). Dra

Can anyone recommend a really basic intro to microprocessors? For someone who hasn't done a CS degree or studied hardware at all. This article seems very readable, but I feel like I'm missing the basics.

This attitude is standard in the UK. The comment from dfraser992 in this thread explains it well, I think. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10987237 I'm starting to realise that the only way to make decent money as
