Look at the range of devices from GL.inet. They run a custom version of openwrt with a nice UI on top. But most are upstreamed and you can flash vanilla openwrt on them. They re quite cheap as well. I m not affiliated with them but I have b

You can use flatseal[0] to allow apps access to extra folders in the filesystem. It's a GUI app that makes it much easier than learning how to do the same thing from the command line. [0]: https://flathub.org/apps/

To what benefit? The privacy policy can change next week and there ll be nothing you can do about it. Unless you don't plan to read it as an individual but as part of an effort, like EFF does, to point out it's shortcomings.

Not exactly. I m successfully using Fedora SilverBlue with proprietary nvidia in Wayland. In the official docs it's not supported but Mutter (from Gnome) has the pieces in place to do so. However I don't use anything too specialis

I m not willing to spend time to search for a source but I remember reading that some newly produced flip phones have appropriately modified versions of play services.

Why is this the platform's fault? Life is full of change. Do we still mainly use horses to move around? Shouldn't there be a technical lead involved that identifies technical debt in the product and propose solutions? Of course th

IANAL, but my understanding is that this is not true. Free software is not sanctioned. Commercial contracts that revolve around it are however. For example I think Huawei can still use AOSP, but cannot licence play services because they req

If you look at the android sandbox architecture (I m guessing ios is similar but I m less familiar with it) there are intentional "holes" in the sandbox that are managed by the user permissions (hence the user does have a say). I

Yes. I 've used a free offering from https://freedns.afraid.org/ until I bought a domain of my own. There are other free offerings if you look around. Look at the documentation for the best supported options.

Apart from a lot of other issues mentioned here, this looks to me for a good argument of app sandboxing. It is a thing on mobile but not much on the desktop.

Do I remember wrong that Nuvia higher ups have stated that they wanted to bring products to market rather than get acquired? P.S. I know such statements shouldn't be taken at face value anyway. Just curious.

F2 is an anti-pattern. It can be OK if you play casually in bronze/silver. But if you want to play more competitively you need to be able to have units split in different locations on the map executing different orders.
